How did they become the tightest-knit, silliest cast on television?

Time for part 2 of my Comic-Con chat with "Community" co-stars Joel Mchale, Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie and Yvette Nicole Brown. Part 1 was the more serious end of things, as the actors talked about the show's continued survival, their feelings about Dan Harmon's exit, their relationship with the fans, etc.
In part 2, things get a bit sillier (albeit not to the furry level of last year's McHale/Brown/Rash extravaganza) as they discussed exactly how they came to be such a tightly-knit group — right before the cameras rolled, Jacobs and Brie were loudly dueting on Flight of the Conchords' "Jenny" "Debra" by Beck — whether the cast or the study group is emotionally closer and (for a surprisingly long period of time) what the heck is up with Chevy Chase's feet.
Enjoy. The new season of "Community" debuts Friday, October 19 at 8:30 p.m. on NBC.

sepinwall As the correction (which came courtesy of Jacobs herself on Twitter) says, it was actually "Debra" by Beck, which sounds like this:

And the Conchords song I mistook it for wasn't "Jenny" (though "Debra" has lyrics about a Jenny), but "Most Beautiful Girl in the Room," which sounds like this:

sepinwall So all around, a bad job by me.
July 20, 2012 at 1:25PM ESTbelinda And here I was about to give you some partial credit since Jenny seems very much inspired by Debra.

July 22, 2012 at 5:16AM EST Reply to CommentNice group snapshot. The actors, together, convey such a relaxed, honest ensemble, real pleasure working in "Community", it is hard to match that to reading about Harmon, his moods and the whole Chase debacle. ON another note, I've had the chance to watch "Community" dubbed in German in Europe, and it is quite illuminating because it shows just how inside-language the script becomes (references are lost, inflections are lost) and how important the natural rapport of this acting ensemble, as this multi-headed character dialog (compared,i.e., to "Two and a Half Men" which is really line by line each week the same two or three people )
Would love eventually to see more serious discussion by the actors about working as actors on Community too, but this was fun.
