Watch: 'Community' stars Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie & Yvette Nicole Brown at Comic-Con, Part 1
How did they react to Dan Harmon's exit? And what does Gillian want in a 'Community' movie?

A year ago at Comic-Con, I sat down with the bulk of the "Community" cast in two groups of three for a couple of long video interviews. One conversation was pure anarchy, while the other featured the funniest/furriest running gag I've ever been in a room for.
This year, I got Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie and Yvette Nicole Brown, and while I was tempted to force some kind of sequel to "YOU GUYS!!!!," there were too many serious things to discuss about "Community" as it approaches its fourth season, including the firing of creator Dan Harmon, the hiring of new showrunners Moses Port and David Guarascio, and the way the insanity of the show's fans has buoyed the actors no matter how dark the show's fate has seemed.
Things get a bit goofier towards the end of this part of the interview, as they discuss Jacobs' plan for a "Community" movie, but look for more laughs in part 2 (coming tomorrow morning) as the actors discuss exactly how and why they've become so close and silly together.
The new season of "Community" begins on Friday, October 19 at 8:30 p.m. on NBC.

July 19, 2012 at 11:30PM EST Reply to CommentMy dream is that Community gets cancelled by NBC, but Comedy Central (which bought the show for syndication) saves it, giving two 10-episode seasons and the movie. And of course, CC demands from Sony that they beg and beg and beg Dan Harmon to return to the show.
Oliver Never going to happen. Community is far, far too expensive for cable ($1.6m/episode).
July 20, 2012 at 12:43AM ESTKobraCola @OLIVER: They couldn't possibly make Community for less?
July 20, 2012 at 7:42AM ESTGreg Obviously they would have to make some budget cuts, but I think it's doable. They could dump a few characters (señor Chang and Pierce, for starters) and they wouldn't need a big writer staff since it's only 10 episodes. Southland proved that it's possible.
July 20, 2012 at 2:03PM ESTPotato I don't think they'd even have to cut characters. Just drop the theme episodes to 1-2 a year and do more bottle/limited location episodes.
July 21, 2012 at 2:04AM ESTOf course, the unfortunate caveat to this miracle is NBC canceling it... which would probably cause me to explode with stress and disappointment before I even heard of the pickup.

Writing down which were the advertisers during Community and then tweeting or writing to them was a great idea, I hope American fans will continue to do so for season 4 in order to get a back 9 (or 11) order, hopefully ! When you don't have a Nielsen Box or even live in the US, the best you can do to help (if you're not as creative as many wonderful fans drawing cartoons or posting montages on Youtube) is the online petitions and polls (Hulu, E!, TV Guide twice, etc). Because sadly I'm sure there's barely 200-300 big Community fans among the 25,000 homes which happen to have Nielsen boxes.
And a Princess Bride homage in Community would be pretty cool indeed.
