Happy Friday, everybody! Time for a new installment of Ask Alan, where HBO's current Sunday lineup leads to another look at the familiar question of what is TV's best programming bloc of all time. After that, we talk about two different kinds of introductory devices: the "previously, on..." montage at the beginning of most serialized shows, and my "just as soon as" introductory lines for my episode reviews, which date back nearly a decade to my original blog (starting with this post).

As always, you can watch the video embedded at the top or bottom of this post, and send questions to askalan@hitfix.com.

Alan Sepinwall has been reviewing television since the mid-'90s, first for Tony Soprano's hometown paper, The Star-Ledger, and now for HitFix. His new book, "TV (The Book)" about the 100 greatest shows of all time, is available now. He can be reached at sepinwall@hitfix.com
