Whether you want to call this the "fall finale" or the "last episode of the year" or the "winter hiatus," the fact that remains is this -- "White Collar" is going away for a few weeks after tonight.  Oh, it will come back on the second Thursday in January and will offer up new episodes at that point, but for the truly faithful--the truly devoted--that still may be a bitter pill to swallow.  Watch Neal's last escapade of the year tonight and take solace in the knowledge that he'll return in January.

Last season, "White Collar"'s fourth, had 16 episodes, as did the show's second and third seasons.  The first season of "White Collar" had 14 episodes.  And yet, here we are tonight, with the fifth season finale of "White Collar" and it's only episode 13.  Did Neal Caffrey steal the extra episode(s) for this season?  Did he make off with them like they were some sort of prized loot upon which he had his heart set?  Did he mistake them for some sort of fancy-pants hat and abscond with it in order to lock it away in his closet and only be worn between the end of April and beginning of May?

Is it just us, or did you kind of miss "White Collar" over the summer?  Honestly, this summer was the first summer the series has existed but in which there were no new episodes.  Is the USA schedule that rich that they can afford to go with Neal and Peter for a whole summer?  Apparently so (they also went without Shawn and Gus).  But, the "White Collar" drought ends tonight.  Except capers and shenanigans and some pretty great suits.

Season four is, after tonight, going to be little more than a fond memory for "White Collar" fans.  At least, it will until it hits DVD and then said fans will be able to relive the whole thing, especially the great bits with Mozzie (we love Mozzie).  What will the season finale of "White Collar" bring us?  Well, we fully expect twists, turns, a revelation or two, and Mozzie... lots and lots of Mozzie.  If "White Collar" should ever end (it has already been renewed for a fifth season) we sincerely hope that someone will have the insight to give us a Mozzie-based show.

Is it just us or is that Neal Caffrey fellow kind of awesome?  First, he's a snappy dresser.  Then, he's got the hair.  There's the witty repartee, too (we're lucky we can even spell repartee).  Plus there's that whole forger/thief-but-working-for-the-feds (on and off) thing he's got going.  Yeah, the dude may have had his problems, and he may not be through them yet, but if we couldn't be ourselves (we're pretty great), we'd probably choose to be Caffrey.  Tune in tonight as "White Collar" is back with new episodes and tell us if you don't think he's quite the snappy dresser.

At some point we think we lost the thread of "White Collar."  Happily though, the well-coiffed Neal Caffrey found the thread and gave us some totally new ones.  We can't say that we know exactly what's going to happen toinght on the summer season finale, but we do expect a whole lot of dramatic music, several cliffhanger scene endings, and quite possibly a final cliffhanger heading into the credits.  Plus, crime.  Expect to see crime committed or crime talked about or crime thwarted.  It's what this show does.

When we last left Neal Caffrey dangerous games were afoot.  Dangerous, conniving, sneaky games.  Games that con artists play.  In point of fact... well, no, we're not going to tell you how the third season drew to a close because if we did you would surely cry 'spoilers' and get moderately distressed.  We wouldn't want that to happen.  Suffice to say that Neal Caffrey did something that Peter Burke wasn't so happy with and their relationship may never quite be the same.  Either that or it may be the same.  Tune in and learn.

Put on that super-retro suit, get yourself well-coiffed, pour yourself a highball, and put on some smooth jazz in the background -- the third season of "White Collar" ends tonight.  Ah that Neal Caffrey, is there anything about him which isn't just slightly too snazzy?  From his suit to his hair to the way he spells his name (what, is Neil not good enough?), Neal is just oh-so-perfectly put together.  We love it when we hit a season finale on the show because he becomes slightly more disheveled during the big episodes and it makes us feel just a little bit better about who we are.

This is not the end of the third season of "White Collar," but rather the end of the summer portion of "White Collar"'s third season.  The season is actually 16 episodes long and this is merely episode 10.  Expect there to be some sort of major cliffhanger twisty thing at the end of the episode which dramatically alters the way the series may head for the remaining six episodes of the season.  It may just be a smokescreen, things may not change at all, but there will almost assuredly be the implication that things will change come the end of the episode.  What we fully guarantee for tonight's episode is that Neal Caffrey will be looking just a little too well put together.

We are always at something of a loss for how exactly to describe "White Collar."  Is it enough to say that it's the series where Matt Bomer plays the overly coiffed conman who has ended up working with the FBI in order to stay out of prison (and solve a puzzle or two on the side)?  Perhaps, but saying that doesn't make any mention of his FBI handler, played by Tim Dekay, nor of his FBI handler's wife played by Tiffani Thiessen.  To us those seem like a couple of huge oversights.  But, to explain all of that would just take too long, wouldn't it (and it wouldn't even make any mention of Willie Garson and that really would be a problem)?

That Neal Cafferty has a whole lot going on and we're going to be honest, we're not always sure that he quite knows what he's doing.  He's just a little too slick sometimes for his own good and we have to think that we haven't seen the last time that his fast-talking nature has caught up with him.  Oh, we're not suggesting that tonight he's going to run into any major trouble via his mouth, but we would be moderately surprised if he doesn't hit any minor trouble.

We've been wondering long and hard about something and hope that you can help us answer the question - is Neal Caffrey to slick for his own good?  There are moments when we feel like he is an unabashed genius, but there are certainly other times when we think that he ought to be relatively easy to con as long as you appeal to his ego.  Surely it ought not be so difficult to convince him that you believe him to be the smartest guy around and thereby lull him into a false sense of security, right?  He may be smart and we may be egotistical, but we think we could take Caffrey down.

Several of you let out a deep sigh at hearing that the summer finale of "White Collar" is upon us.  Several others wonder why that might possibly be (the sigh, not the finale).  The short answer is that you love Neal Caffrey - the man is just so darned cute and huggable.  We could totally fall into his blue eyes (are they blue, we're just guessing).  The great thing about him is that he's really the sort of guy that both men and women can love - he can talk cars as well as he can talk shoes and he can smooth talk the ladies just as well as he can help other men smooth talk the ladies.  He's like Hitch, but does illegal things.

You know what we want to see happen this season on "White Collar?"  We're rooting for Tim DeKay's Peter to leave his wife after admitting his love for Neal to her.  No, really, we kind of think that could happen, don't you?  Stop for a minute and think about the way Peter acts around Neal - he pretends to be all made and angry, but then he slips these furtive glances towards Neal when he thinks no one is looking (the camera sees all).  Maybe that won't happen in the second season premiere, but surely by the seventh season finale the show will finally reach that point (you heard it here first).

Isn't that Neal Caffrey fellow the debonair-iest?  We shouldn't kid, we're legitimately impressed that Caffrey knows so much about crime, used to be a fantastic criminal and is now a pretty solid FBI helper-type.  No, seriously, with the amount of time that Caffrey clearly puts into every aspect of his appearance from each strand of hair right down to his shoes, it is truly amazing that he had time to even consider any other field, much less excel at one.  If we could find that sort of time, think of the power we could wield.  See kids, time management is an important skill.

Do you remember this series?  It's the one with the charming yet overly slick and potentially smarmy guy who went to jail for various illegal forging/fraud activities only to be let out by the FBI to help them catch even more dangerous criminals.  Also, it stars Tiffani Thiessen.  Well, the series is returning tonight, resuming its first season run.  If you're having trouble remembering which show this is, that may be because this is a timeslot for the show - don't worry, that throws a lot of people off.

This fall, our white collar criminal, Neal Caffrey, has been desperately searching for his lost love who absconded for reasons unknown.  Perhaps she's done it of her own volition, perhaps, as she's stated, she's been forced by dark powers to leave.  All we know for sure is that the fall finale of the show is going to air tonight and that means that we're going to get some answers, but almost certainly we'll get even more questions.  The hour will likely conclude with some sort of amazing cliffhanger.  That doesn't mean we won't be watching however.  On the contrary, we just might analyze every frame in order to pick up more clues.
