We do love ourselves some "Veep."  How in god's name did this woman become Vice President?  Why would she allow these people to surround her?  Is this what Washington is really like?  Sure, we'd like answers to all of these questions, but, on the other hand, we kind of love just getting able to watch the show because, you know, it's hysterical.  That being said, we're curious about how they're going to wrap-up this season's overarching storylines... or if they're going to bother with that at all.  Back-to-back episodes end the season tonight.

This Emmy-nominated series stars Emmy winning (for this series) Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Emmy winning (for this series) Tony Hale.  What can we tell you about it, besides its awards prowess?  Well, it airs on HBO and follows the travails of the Vice President of the United States, Selina Meyer (Louis-Dreyfus), who may be Vice President but doesn't have the easiest of times and who has, somehow, surrounded herself with a group of aides who tend to be less than great at their job.

Unfortunately for her, but fortunately for us, Selina Meyer hasn't had the easiest of seasons.  To suggest that she and her staff are gaff prone is to undersell things by more than a little.  As we say, that really is a bad thing for her, but it's great for us because we get to see the vast quantities of funny that result from these gaffs.  If she did everything in a perfectly straight, humor-free way then this wouldn't be much of a comedy, it would be like a dour version of "The West Wing" if "The West Wing" only focused on the VPs and not the P.  Nobody would wan tthat, especially with the cast being as funny as it is.

What is the job of the Vice President of the United States?  Excellent question, and the exact sort of thing that we think Selina Meyer wonders every single day she goes into work... as the the Vice President of the United States.  Julia Louis-Dreyfus stars as the VPOTUS and is utterly hysterical as is the rest of the cast around her.  If you missed the first season of "Veep" it is absolutely not to late to jump in.  You are going to love Louis-Dreyfus.  You are going to love Tony Hale.  You are going to love Matt Walsh.  Listen, we'd list out the rest of the cast, but the truth is that you're going to love them all.  Tune in, it is worth your time.

Like a politician with an easy election cycle, "Veep" was renewed for season two early on during its first season run.  That means that Julia Louis-Dreyfus is going to return to our television sets once more in the not-too-distant future.  Plus, next season is going to be 10 episodes as opposed to this season's eight, which is kind of like getting elected President for five years instead of four... if that sort of thing were legal.  That feels like the sort of thing which you would be fine with should it be your side getting the extra year and completely against if it is the other side.  Happily, Louis-Dreyfus is on all our sides.
