There have been episodes of "V" during its second season that we've loved and then there have been the episodes that have made us scratch our heads wondering what exactly the show is driving at? Well, tonight we're going to, hopefully, be answering that exact question - what has the show been driving at. Tonight is the "V" season finale which means that whatever Anna's planning will be revealed in greater detail tonight and whatever the Fifth Column may have planned will have to get cranking as well.

Oded Fehr is one of those people, whom no matter how much great work he does, we will always associate with a single role. For us, Oded Fehr will always be the bad guy from "The Mummy." We don't mean that in any sort of a negative way - that was a great role for him and he was great in it. "V" being a sci-fi series, we kind of hope that Oded Fehr will be doing some mummy-esque stuff again. Jay Karnes we won't say that we'll always associate with "The Shield," although that is the role of his that most readily springs to mind.

There are those out there who might be a tad worried that "V" has had its episode order this season cut from 13 to 10. We don't actually choose to see that as a bad thing - we choose to see it as a testament to the realism of the series. We fully believe that after watching some episodes, the folks at ABC are under the impression that the Vs are in fact here and are in fact ready to take over the world - that the world as we know it will be long gone by the time the 13th episode was to be on the air. ABC, clearly, has opted to shorten the episode order so that we can get the full season in before the final V victory arrives. Honestly, in that light, their choice makes a lot of sense.

We have now reached the 12th episode of the first season of the new "V," and that means that it's time for the season finale. What that doesn't mean is that the war is over. It doesn't even mean that the battle is over (there could be a cliffhanger ending). Frankly, the war between the humans and the Visitors is really just getting going, it's just beginning. No matter how big any explosion is tonight, it is just the opening salvo in a larger war (even if we never get to see that war).

When we last left the Visitors they were preparing for their takeover of the world. When we last left the Resistance they were... well, kind of still groping in the dark. They've managed to secure a victory or two, but unless they get bigger and stronger in short order, the Vs are going to have little trouble completely and totally enslaving us. "V" returns this evening, and hopefully the Resistance will have worked out some sort of acceptable strategy, we don't really want to be food (or something worse) for the lizard people.

Remember how last week in this exact timeslot ABC showed that "FlashForward" recap, the one where you got the chance to see what happened during the first half of the season so that you wouldn't be completely lost during the second half? This is just like that, except that it's for "V" and not "FlashForward." That means that there will be no funky flashes and crazy scientists, just lizard aliens and that woman from "Firefly." Where the two shows do overlap are in their vast conspiracies and crazed FBI agents. Huh... maybe they take place in the same universe after all.

It's been an awfully quick ride on "V" this fall, but the show is disappearing until next year after tonight's episode. Expect a massive cliffhanger ending at the conclusion of tonight's hour. If we were writing it, there would be a fight of some sort between the Visitors and the Resistance, and possibly a reveal of some sort to the world at large. Will our predictions come true? Who knows, but we are pretty convinced that the aliens are going to have to look into the V murder that occurred last week.
