That is right, Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey are starring in this new detective series. The tale takes place in Louisiana and deals for the 17-year hunt for a killer. Well, maybe that's how long the killer was free and not the length of a single investigation because the description says that a murder occurred in 1995 and the case gets reopened in 2012. But, let us not concern ourselves with that minor point, let us instead focus on the notion that this HBO series stars Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey and is a mystery.

We won't tell you that through the course of its run, "True Detective" has failed to provide any answers or that when they do they just ask another question, but we will say that there are definitely questions about the mystery to which we'd like to get answers. We hope those answers will be forthcoming on tonight's season finale. We also hope that we'll get to see Harrelson and McConaughey reprise their roles for another full season of "True Detecitve," but that is not what the plan seems to be for the series. Ah, well, maybe things will change in the future.

Is it just us or does it feel like "True Detective" just started and you were just marveling at having Harrelson back on TV on a weekly basis and McConaughey appearing as well? You know it's true, you know you were excited, and you also know that you're dying to find out about the truth behind the goings-on (or, crimes, if you prefer). Answers probably won't be forthcoming tonight as this is the penultimate episode of the season, but expect to see the pieces all get lined up on the board tonight so that next week the series can simply blow us away with the finale (in case you couldn't tell, our expectations are very high).
