Sadly, the fifth season of "The Voice" ends tonight.  The two hour finale promises to force us to the edge of our seats for nearly the full 120 minutes before announcing that we, correctly, predicted the winner the first time we saw them way back in September.  Yes, that's right, way back in September.  We would, naturally, be kind enough to tell you exactly who we chose, and we will, right after it is announced.  Telling you the winner before it is announced just wouldn't be fair to everyone else.

CeeLo Green isn't returning this fall to "The Voice."  In his place is going to be Pharrell Williams.  Christina Aguilera won't be returning either.  Instead, we'll be getting Gwen Stefani.  We have already season a different look for the spring versions of "The Voice" and it has worked out rather well, although, perhaps, continually changing coaches/judges/mentors will eventually dilute the brand.  Tune in and see how this new-look "Voice" opens tonight.

As we approach the finale of "The Voice," we will, undoubtedly, be treated to more two hour episodes of the show.  However, for now, this is the last two hour episode on the schedule.  Tomorrow, we're going to get a mere 60 minutes of "The Voice," but tonight we're getting 120 minutes.  That is 120 minutes of songs and coaching and fun and merriment.  Watch and see who advances and who does not.

In the fall, get happy, "The Voice" will be back, and it will return with Pharrell Williams taking on the seat formerly occupied by Cee Lo.  We know that you are excited by that and, quite honestly, we're excited that you're excited and we're excited for ourselves as well.  But, let us not forget that there is still a new episode of "The Voice" tonight and it is, quite possible, the most important episode of the season, for it is the episode where someone is declared the winner.

On May 20th, last they said anyway, this season of "The Voice" will end.  It will be a sad time for all of us, and for many of the contestants as well (there can be only one and all).  We therefore recommend you get in all the watching of "The Voice" that you possibly can while there is still new "Voice" to watch, especially as the live shows start tonight.  That makes the entire process a lot more stressful for everyone, except for us in the audience, for us it just makes it a lot more fun.

Cee Lo and Christina are gone again for this season, with Shakira and Usher returning.  The question, of course, is if the return of the replacement judges will keep the numbers steady (or maybe even go up), or if we'll start to see a decline as the show ages.  But, that is all a worry for tomorrow and for others.  We simply want to see the judges hear the blind auditions and turn of those chairs.  That, we expect, is exactly what's going to happen tonight.

Tomorrow night, this season of "The Voice" is going to end, but tonight we will get a couple of last looks at the remaining contestants in order to see just who we would like to see win.  Well, maybe.  At this point, we imagine, most folks out there know exactly whom they would like to see crowned tomorrow, but, perhaps not.  Just as in an election, there always remains that slight group of undecideds.  They then, could be swayed tonight.  And, for those counting, the next season starts at the end of February.

Sadly, the blind auditions are behind us.  Yes, we know, there weren't even blind auditions last week, but it took us a full week to mourn their ending.  Now that we have come out of the mourning period though, we're ready to start paying attention again, and no small part of that is because the battles begin tonight.  We do love the battles, we love the battles almost as much as we love the blinds and we think you know how much we love the blinds.  Perhaps the secret is to have things start with the letter B.  It really is a good letter.

Okay, this may sound weird, but tonight is kind of a best-of special.  In fact, it is exactly that.  It is Carson and company talking about which of the blind auditions were the best, the most memorable, etc.  Yes, we know, this is only the sixth episode of the season, but we have seen a whole lot of people try out and we can't possibly remember everyone.  We are going to use this as something of a cheat sheet and a great way to jog our memory.

It isn't that we won't, necessarily, see Shakira and Usher return as coaches for season six or some other year of "The Voice," it's just that right now, for season five, we're going back to the original lineup.  So, forget the days of Shakira and Usher, our words don't lie, it's Cee Lo and Christina's season on "The Voice."  Of course, Adam Levine and Black Shelton and Carson Daly are all back as well, but they never went anywhere.  In closing, be excited, it's "The Voice" original flavor.

Well, this is it, the moment you've been waiting for since... well, since this season of "The Voice" began or since you first started caring about the contestants on the show this season or whenever.  The point is that tonight a winner is going to be declared for the fourth season of "The Voice" and, after tonight, you'll have to wait until September (we believe September 23rd) for the show to start up again.  We therefore recommend you watch tht entire two hour finale in super slow motion -- that way it can take extra time and you'll be "Voice"-less for less time.  Genius, right?

This season of "The Voice" has been a little be different, hasn't it?  Well, it has, and we kind of attribute that, in general, to the presence of Shakira and Usher.  We don't want to take anything away from Christina or Cee Lo, but Shakira and Usher did in fact make things just a little bit different.  Do make sure you tune in tonight, because a winner is going to be declared tomorrow and that makes this your last opportunity to see the contestants perform before the finale (or the second part of the finale, they may be calling tonight part one of the finale).

This is a pretty swell week for "The Voice."  Not only did we get two hours last night, not only are we getting an hour tomorrow night, but we're also getting an extra hour tonight.  Yes, that's right, Monday thru Wednesday of this week, NBC will be devoting five hours of primetime to "The Voice," and our hips don't lie, the sofa is going to be slightly more worn come tomorrow night than it might be otherwise by Wednesday.  We're sorry, is that the 800th "Hips Don't Lie" reference we've made because Shakira is on the show this season?  We kind of have a thing for her.  Watch tonight's extra-long episode and maybe you'll see why.

Cee Lo and Christina Aguilera will, we are told, be returning for the fifth season of "The Voice," which is tentatively thought of as airing this coming fall.  Right now though, it's time for season four, a Cee Lo and Christina-less season.  In their stead we will get Shakira and Usher, and, we kind of wonder how Shakira is going to do with the whole blind aspect of things up front.  After all, didn't she tell us to focus on hips because hips don't lie?  She can't really do that if she can't see the contestants, can she?  There is always a possibility she will be allowed to blindly grope to check out the hips, but we doubt it.

Last night, after the Super Bowl, we got the second season premiere of "The Voice."  It was, as you well know if you live on the east coast, a little late for some people to do some serious watching (not that the ratings weren't high or anything).  Tonight though, during normal primetime hours, we're getting the time slot premiere for the second season of the show.  What does that mean?  Probably it means a whole lot more blind auditions which, as you well know no matter where you live, are a great deal of fun.  It is a two hour thing, so expect there to be a whole lot of auditions.

As Susan Boyle has taught us (because we had kind of forgotten), being able to sing is a whole lot about your voice and not entirely about how you visually present yourself.  The first stage of this competition has all the contestants audition without the coaches being able to see them (you know, to judge the people's actual voices).  Then, the coaches -- Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, and Adam Levine -- actually coach the singers on how to perform.  In the end though there will be one winner who gets a recording contract and a substantial amount of money.  That adventure begins tonight.

Watch Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, and Adam Levine perform "Crazy" during the 12-minute sneak preview of the show here.
