This season of "The Voice" has been a little be different, hasn't it?  Well, it has, and we kind of attribute that, in general, to the presence of Shakira and Usher.  We don't want to take anything away from Christina or Cee Lo, but Shakira and Usher did in fact make things just a little bit different.  Do make sure you tune in tonight, because a winner is going to be declared tomorrow and that makes this your last opportunity to see the contestants perform before the finale (or the second part of the finale, they may be calling tonight part one of the finale).

Well, this is it, the moment you've been waiting for since... well, since this season of "The Voice" began or since you first started caring about the contestants on the show this season or whenever.  The point is that tonight a winner is going to be declared for the fourth season of "The Voice" and, after tonight, you'll have to wait until September (we believe September 23rd) for the show to start up again.  We therefore recommend you watch tht entire two hour finale in super slow motion -- that way it can take extra time and you'll be "Voice"-less for less time.  Genius, right?

This is a pretty swell week for "The Voice."  Not only did we get two hours last night, not only are we getting an hour tomorrow night, but we're also getting an extra hour tonight.  Yes, that's right, Monday thru Wednesday of this week, NBC will be devoting five hours of primetime to "The Voice," and our hips don't lie, the sofa is going to be slightly more worn come tomorrow night than it might be otherwise by Wednesday.  We're sorry, is that the 800th "Hips Don't Lie" reference we've made because Shakira is on the show this season?  We kind of have a thing for her.  Watch tonight's extra-long episode and maybe you'll see why.

Last night we got our first look at the new season of "The Voice" with its two new coaches.  Now, the truth is that we've gotten somewhat used to the old judges and are going to need a little bit of time to make our decisions about Shakira and Usher.  Whether you thought they were great in their first episode or a little weak, the two have to be given the opportunity to find their footing and normalize.  Are things going to be similar tonight to last night or will they feel a little different?  Tune in, see for yourself.

Cee Lo and Christina Aguilera will, we are told, be returning for the fifth season of "The Voice," which is tentatively thought of as airing this coming fall.  Right now though, it's time for season four, a Cee Lo and Christina-less season.  In their stead we will get Shakira and Usher, and, we kind of wonder how Shakira is going to do with the whole blind aspect of things up front.  After all, didn't she tell us to focus on hips because hips don't lie?  She can't really do that if she can't see the contestants, can she?  There is always a possibility she will be allowed to blindly grope to check out the hips, but we doubt it.

"The Voice" will be back (with a slightly different coach arrangement) for a fourth season come the end of March (actually, Shakira and Usher will join while Cee Lo and Christina take a break).  And, what that really means is that the third season has to come to a close.  Said ending of the season is in fact exactly what's going to happen tonight.  Tonight's two hour episode mark the end of the third season.  A winner will be crowned and a runner-up will walk away saddened, but perhaps knowing that they gave it everything they had and that a recording contract may still be right around the corner.

Twice this week we got to witness 'The Live Playoffs' rounds on "The Voice."  The question is who won said playoffs.  Well, we're happy to tell you that tonight, on a special night and time (at least we think it's a special night and time, we're so confused with all the special extra episodes these music contest shows are airing), we'll be seeing the results of the playoffs.  What we can promise you from tonight's episode is that the end of the hour you'll know who won -- this isn't going to be like the presidential election and drag on for hours and hours.

As you're well aware, mama said knock you out, I'm a-gonna knock you out.  Okay, fine, truth be told we'd have real trouble knocking anyone out, except with our voice.  We don't mean that we can sing brilliantly, but rather that our voice actually has the power to cause you to lose consciousness (and bleed from the ears).  The singers you'll hear tonight however don't have bad voices, they have some pretty good voices, and they're going to try to know one another out.  Yup, the knockout rounds begin tonight, so tune in and see if these singers can do like mama said.

You know "The Voice," don't pretend like you don't know "The Voice."  What then can we tell you about this episode tonight?  Well, it's the start of the brand new season obviously and that means that, as some promo somewhere is sure to tell us all, this is going to be the biggest and best season of the show yet.  We aren't exactly sure why that may be (we haven't seen the promo in question, we're just convinced that it must exist), but if we had to take a shot in the dark it is because the competition is, apparently, stronger than ever.

Tonight, we will be given the winner of "The Voice."  Now, as far as we can tell, they don't actually give the title of 'The Voice' to the winner of "The Voice," but we can't quite fathom why.  Is it just that it's implied?  Well, certainly it's implied, but why it doesn't seem to be overtly stated we don't understand.  Wouldn't it be wonderful to hear Carson Daly yell out 'Contestant John Ridonkulous Name Smith, you are The Voice!'  That's the sort of closure we need, it's like Ryan Seacrest yelling something about someone being some sort of idol -- they're not the winner, they're the idol.  Hopefully "The Voice" works that out tonight for the finale.

You may not be surprised by this, but the television season is ending pretty soon.  That means that all these various competition shows are approaching their conclusion.  Tonight are the quarter-final performances on "The Voice."  That means that the semi finals are rapidly approaching and after those we'll be at the real-and-true finals.  We like to refer to this as the 'nitty-gritty' and you don't want to miss the nitty-gritty.

Do you know what's better than "The Voice" airing one night a week?  That's right, "The Voice" airing two nights a week (three nights might be overkill, don't suggest that and no, we're not counting Saturday encores as airings).  Tonight we get the start of "The Voice"'s expansion to two nights a week as this is the first live Tuesday night results shows.  Well, live to the folks in the eastern and central time zones, mountain and pacific get it 'live on tape.'  Expect these live Tuesday shows to continue all the way through to the season finale on May 8th (also a Tuesday), which, scarily, is right around the corner.

Last night, after the Super Bowl, we got the second season premiere of "The Voice."  It was, as you well know if you live on the east coast, a little late for some people to do some serious watching (not that the ratings weren't high or anything).  Tonight though, during normal primetime hours, we're getting the time slot premiere for the second season of the show.  What does that mean?  Probably it means a whole lot more blind auditions which, as you well know no matter where you live, are a great deal of fun.  It is a two hour thing, so expect there to be a whole lot of auditions.

Here is the deal people -- this is the post Super Bowl show, so when we give you a time of 10pm for it to start, understand that we are operating based on the information given us, however foolish it might be.  We have been told that "The Voice" will start at 10, but probably what is actually meant by '10' is 'We fully expect our Super Bowl coverage to finish on our about 10pm.  "The Voice" will begin as soon as it possibly can following the end of the game.'  All of that is to say that you need to set your DVRs to run long if you want to get the entirety of the premiere (and you know you do).

The musical stars on "The Voice" have been relentlessly pursuing a winner over the course of this first season.  Tonight, all their efforts come to a head, tonight is the season finale and that means that tonight we will know which would-be star has won and gotten that much closer to becoming a real star.  It feels like the season has gone by awfully quickly so you may have trouble believing that this is the finale, but trust us when we tell you that it most definitely is.

Tomorrow, our winner will be crowned 'The Voice,' which, if you're thinking about it, is a pretty good title.  It is certainly much better than 'The Forehead' or 'The Eyebrow' or 'The Kneecap.'  But, the name is beside the point.  The point is that tomorrow the winner will be announced which means that tonight is the last chance our remaining singers have to prove that they are worthy of the title (whatever said title may be).  They need to leave it all on the stage tonight if they want to take home the prize tomorrow.

"The Voice" will be having its season finale next week which means that it is tonight's live results show which is going to determine who the finalists are.  The series, thus far, has proven quite popular for NBC, and it has already been announced that the network will be airing a new episode of "The Voice" after next year's Super Bowl.   But, that will be with a new group of hopefuls, your time to see these hopefuls is winding down, you had best take every opportunity you may have.

Well, we've watched blind auditions, we've watched pitched battles (which certainly involved pitch, but they were pitched), and we've generally wondered and stared in amazement.  Now though it is time for us to embark on a new adventure within "The Voice," the quarterfinal round.  We're not quite down to the nitty-gritty yet, but this could almost certainly be classified as the nitty part with the gritty adding in by the time the semis roll around.

As Susan Boyle has taught us (because we had kind of forgotten), being able to sing is a whole lot about your voice and not entirely about how you visually present yourself.  The first stage of this competition has all the contestants audition without the coaches being able to see them (you know, to judge the people's actual voices).  Then, the coaches -- Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, and Adam Levine -- actually coach the singers on how to perform.  In the end though there will be one winner who gets a recording contract and a substantial amount of money.  That adventure begins tonight.

Watch Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, and Adam Levine perform "Crazy" during the 12-minute sneak preview of the show here.
