The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

TV Network - CBSAt what point in time in our society did this become socially acceptable? When did we venture from a land when women wore collars up to their necks and skirts down to their ankles to a place where primetime television on a major network features women walking up and down a runway in lingerie? That seems like a dramatic switch to us, and before we rev our Delorean up to 88mph and head back in time, we want to make absolutely sure that we don't go to the high collar and long skirt period. Seriously. We want to stop our time travel before we hit that point.

Every year for the last 10 years--yeah we don't quite know, but we're going to go with 10 years, figuring that it's fewer than 15 but more than five--we have gotten a special television event featuring music and famous people and women in lingerie walking up and down a runway. We can't be entirely sure what we're supposed to take away from the experience, but we're not going to deny it being one of those things we simply can't stop watching. Tune in tonight and maybe we'll learn just how long it has been on the air (and how young some of the models you see tonight were when that first special aired).

We don't want to say that this annual event is selling but one thing, but for the life of us, we can't figure out what else the point may be. No, this show is entirely about offering you, the viewer, one and only one thing, it doesn't even pretend to do something else. So, what can we tell you, tune in tonight and watch as CBS sells us the idea that we can all look beautiful by sprouting wings even though we just ate a whole lot of turkey last, stuffing, and cranberry jelly last week. Because it's totally that--and nothing else whatsoever--that they're selling here.
