Beginning tonight, we are going to get the second season of "The Taste." The series has made some changes this time out. First off, Marcus Samuelsson has joined the festivities (taking the place of Brian Malarkey). Second, the show is going to a two hour format. The series is going to run for eight episodes this season and is going to see which of the 16 contestants (whose skill level ranges from "not so much" to "super pro") is the best chef. Returning as coaches this season are Anthony Bourdain, Ludo Lefebvre, and Nigella Lawson

If you watch FOX tonight, you can see one style of cooking competition, it involves yelling and the furrowing of brows and the spewing of venom. You might get some brow furrowing here on "The Taste," but you won't get either of those other two things (probably). Instead, here we get coaches and the sense that mentoring can be, for the most part, a positive experience. We certainly aren't going to tell you that one of these ways is better than the other, watch them both and decide for yourself. The first season of "The Taste" ends tonight, so it's your last chance for a while to see it.
