There will be, we have been informed, a total of seven episodes of "The Sing Off" this season and tonight is episode six. That means that this is the penultimate episode of the season, the nitty gritty, if you will. It is all ending on Monday, a winner will be declared then, but tonight we will learn just which teams will be facing off in the finals. Or, wait, not facing off, singing off, which teams will be singing off in the finals. Learn which teams will be singing off in the finals tonight.

Normally, we get a week or two of "The Sing-Off," but NBC is switching that up this year and condensing it all to one night. Rather than thinking that this is some sort of travesty, we encourage you to see it much as Ebenezer saw the visiting of the spirits. You will recall that the three spirits were meant to visit him on three successive night but rather than doing it that way, they ended up doing it all on the same night. Was it a long night? Maybe, but he was happy not to miss the holiday.

Have you been watching "The Sing-Off" this season? Well, just in case not, we'll catch you up -- this is a singing competition show where groups of people... yeah, sing. The idea is, as is the notion with so many competition shows, to find out whom the best singer(s) is/are. Tonight, with the two hour finale, we're going to get our answers. Think of this like a slightly early Christmas gift, one which sees others get the big present, but you still get the present of seeing someone else open their present.

NBC has made this something of a staple -- (just about) every year at some point, for a brief amount of time, we're going to get a season of "The Sing-Off" and going to get to see some of the best a cappella groups from around the country compete. This year, for the fourth season, NBC has opted to go with a multiple times per week format, with the show airing Monday, Wednesday, Thursday this week (and then three times next week and once the week after). The show is going to go for two hours tonight. Nick Lachey hosts while Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman, and Jewel judge.

All good things must come to an end, and that 'all' includes things like singing competition television series. Tonight, sadly, the last episode of the current run of "The Sing-Off" will be airing. It is kind of a holiday special which means that there will be much love, some tears, and an album which you can buy when the credits roll. Well, okay, you'll probably be able to buy the album before the final credits roll, but this much is certain -- something related to the series will be purchasable. No, we don't know for a fact that there will be something to buy, but it just would seem terribly much outside the holiday spirit if there wasn't a purchasable item available at the end.

Don't think that tonight is really the last episode of the season. Oh, sure, a winner is going to be declared tonight and in that regard it is a finale, but there is going to be another episode next week. Said next episode is going to be a holiday singing special. Now, while this isn't the last episode of the season, it is the episode that is going to reveal the winner and that's a pretty great reason to watch. Yes, they'll probably mention the name of the winner next week, don't you actually want to see the winner announced live (or live on tape)?

At the beginning of any competition like this one, it always seems as though it is going to take forever before we get down to the last couple of groups standing and (eventually) a winner. Well, "The Sing-Off" has managed to get us all the way down to the top four groups which means that we are just a couple episodes away from the end of the season (which is scheduled to arrive at the beginning of December). That makes it time to tune in once again and see just who remains on stage and who has taken that long walk out the stage door. As always, we do know who is going to win (we're excellent at predicting such things) but we're not going to say.

Boy has there been some singing on the show this season. It's just amazing, we think that every single group we saw on the show sang songs as their talent. Oh... wait... this isn't "America's Got Talent," is it? Right, we wondered where The Hoff was. So, check that. How about this? Tonight marks the season finale of NBC's pseudo-annual show "The Sing-Off," which means that all that December a cappella goodness that has warmed our hearts for the month is going to disappear just as we head into winter. That not only makes us sad, but potentially more than a little cold too. Poor, poor us. But, congratulations to whomever takes the title tonight!

One of tonight's tasks for the teams hoping to make it to the finals will be for them to sing a medley of songs from a single artist. How much fun would it be if one of the teams had no idea what some of the lyrics were? We don't think that will happen and understand that it makes us bad people to think such thoughts, but we do. Quite honestly though, the songs are not why we're suggesting you watch tonight, we're suggesting you watch because the show is now down to five squads, and not performing well tonight will mean not making the finals. It's a big night folks.

In what is rapidly becoming a holiday tradition, NBC is returning with "The Sing-Off" in a five episode-long December run. Now, those episodes aren't all going to be airing in a row, so you need to pay careful attention as to when exactly they're happening. We consider it our duty to inform you that the first will be tonight and that the last will be December 20, but as for the rest of them? Well, you're just going to have to figure that out yourself. Oh come on, we're kidding, what kind of people would we be if we did that? It wouldn't show much holiday spirit, would it? The 8, 13, and 15. Watch and be merry.

We don't want to call this a kiss-off for "The Sing-Off," but tonight is the competition's last episode. The winning a cappella group will be revealed, and they'll go off and celebrate. The other two groups will... well, we hope they don't cry, but imagine that some tears are to be expected. The winning group will not only receive $100,000 but also an Epic Records/Sony Entertainment recording contract, which means that in the near-ish future we'll hopefully be able to buy their CD and relive their awfully quick trip to success on "The Sing-Off."

"The Sing-Off" continues to race ahead at a breakneck pace tonight. This is episode three out of four, which means that not only is the competition getting fierce, but that pretty soon those soaring voices will be getting sore. Break out the lozenges and that special throat-coating honey-lemon tea, because those who don't take every advantage are doomed to go home all the sadder for it. Tonight the five remaining teams are going to have to sing songs of the judges' choosing and we're hoping for some nice speed metal selections.

It is night two tonight of the four-night NBC a cappella singing competition and as the show only will air four times, some teams will be going home tonight. Specifically, two teams will be eliminated this evening, but we'd encourage them to remember that their being dismissed isn't the same as their not being good enough. There really are no losers when it comes to a cappella singing, except if you're one of the unlucky few who doesn't get to hear/watch. Those people have lost out on something special.
