That Ricky Gervais, he's a funny man.  Stephen Merchant is also a funny man.  Karl Pilkington is more of a man to whom funny things happen than a funny man, but there is certainly funny that happens around him.  Tonight though, sadly, all that funny comes to an end (at least for a little while).  For tonight, is the season finale of "The Ricky Gervais Show."  Poor Ricky, poor Stephen, they so love having fun.  It is merely Karl who ought to be pleased by the end of this whole thing as it is Karl who ends up being the butt of many of the jokes.

    The Ricky Gervais Show

    TV Network - HBO

Using Ricky Gervais' podcast for the audio, this series animates Gervais, Karl Pilkington, and Stephen Merchant.  Essentially, it (like the podcast) spends a whole lot of time being mean to Pilkington.  Is it all in good fun?  Is it just out and out mean?  Does the animation undercut the nastiness or does it enhance it?  There are just so many questions and so many opportunities to laugh with and at the show that we're simply not sure how anyone can pass up the opportunity to tune in (especially because if you do, you might be Gervais & Merchant's next targets).

    The Ricky Gervais Show

    Apr 15, 2011

    TV Network - HBO

Ricky Gervais and his podcast buddies -- Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington -- have happily traipsed through this season of their show in quite an animated fashion, and we don't just say that because these are some funny blokes.  No, we say that because they're literally animated in the series... literally - the series is an animated one where they take the podcast audio and throw it over animations.  Listen, if you don't believe us you can check it out yourself, but this is the season finale so do check it out tonight.

    The Ricky Gervais Show

    Jan 14, 2011

    TV Network - HBO

Based on the Ricky Gervais' podcasts, this animated show features Gervais, Stephen Merchant, and Karl Pilkington talking about various odd things and, usually, making an inordinate amount of fun of Karl.  We actually end up feeling a little bad for the guy - we get the sense that it's all done in jest and that Karl probably isn't terribly upset by it, but some of it feels downright mean.  We're looking forward to the day when Karl strikes back, dropping an animated 1,000lb weight on Gervais and Merchant.
