    The Inbetweeners

    Aug 20, 2012

    TV Network - MTV

We cannot begin to express to you are our incredible love of the original British version of "The Inbetweeners."  It is one of those incredibly funny, truly wrong, television series.  It follows a group of high schoolers and their hilarious (really) misadventures (mainly dealing with women and alcohol).  The nice folks over at MTV have remade the series in our image, or, at the very least, with our accents.  Brad Copeland has adapted the British show and tonight we'll get the opportunity to see if the jokes work quite as well without the accents and people driving on the wrong side of the road.

At some point, all good things come to an end.  Today is that day for "The Inbetweeners," sort of.  In short, here's the deal, after three seasons of this hysterical television series, it is all coming to an end but there is a movie on the way.  If you are, as we suspect, in the United States, you'll probably eventually get to see the feature film that is being released in England this summer, but we can't swear as to when/if that will happen.  We highly recommend you watch tonight's final episode and suck in all the goodness you possibly can.

"The Inbetweeners" is one of those British comedy series that will have you saying, 'Did he just say what I think he said?  I would swear that he did, but what with his accent and all it could be that I'm totally wrong, and let me tell you, what I think he said is the sort of thing no one should ever say but which is utterly hysterical nonetheless.'  That is to say, it is a funny, funny show which creates its laughs through some truly awkward and potentially wrong situations.

Though a third season of this series has been ordered, as of this moment, the episode of the show you'll watch tonight (and make no mistake, you will watch it) is the last one that exists.  Think of it like that Billy Joel song, the one where he says that these are the last words he has to say but that there will be more words eventually.  Of course, the kids on the show either don't know who Joel is or think he's probably too old to listen to, but we'll forgive them their transgressions.  We have to, after all, they are incredibly funny teenagers and we could all stand to learn a thing or two from their antics.
