There is a certain comfort available here in recognizing that tonight, there is a good chance that Red is going to offer up someone from his blacklist for the good guys to go after and that and that there are going to be questions of loyalty and truth and principles and right vs. wrong. Listen, it isn't that every episode of this series is the same, they're definitely not, it's just that there's an established framework which is used on a regular basis. The enjoyment comes from the ways in which the actors and produces play with the frame and what takes place inside it. See just how that happens tonight.

The new season of "The Blacklist" began back on September 22nd, and now, tonight, the run of episodes ends. Oh, this isn't the season two finale or anything like that, it's just the fall finale or first run of episodes finale or whatever they're opting to call it. As this date was announced way back at the start of June, we hope--we expect--that the producers have been able to work their way to making this a doozy of an episode.

Tonight, "The Blacklist" is going to offer up not just one, but two great guest stars -- Mary-Louise Parker and Paul Reubens. Okay, they may have been on before, but every time they appear they just make things better and consequently, this is going to be fun. Probably it won't be fun in a happy way as "The Blacklist" has a tendency to be a relatively dark, sometimes upsetting, series, but that darkness can be its own sort of fun, especially when it is on television and not in our actual lives.

There are not going to be all that many new episodes of "The Blacklist" before the show disappears for three months. In fact, in total, we're going to get a mere eight episodes this fall of "The Blacklist" and tonight is episode three. But, they're making this run a good one. We've been introduced to Mary-Louise Parker's character already, and tonight, Paul Reubens begins a multi-episode arc.

It is no secret that many television series, after coming out of the gate brilliantly in season one, find season two to be something of a difficult endeavor. Will "The Blacklist" fall into these second season doldrums or will the producers manage to come up with new, interesting, wholly compelling ways to advance the story of Red? Tonight we'll get the first inkling of where season two might go and just how high are hopes should be.

We do not know what is going to happen tonight on "The Blacklist," but what we do know is this -- it ought to be relatively explosive. The show has been renewed and will have new episodes come next (television) year. That means that whatever cliffhanger we get tonight will have to be solved come the fall. It was way back in December that "Blacklist" was picked up for season two which also means that, one surmises, this finale could have been planned with next year in mind. See what happens tonight.

Boy, "The Blacklist." Have you been watching this first season of "The Blacklist?" You should be watching as James Spader plays quite the bad guy. We don't want to say that he plays the bad guy so well here that he was hired for "Avengers: Age of Ultron" to play the bad guy there, but he is playing the bad guy there and that wasn't announced until after "The Blacklist" premiered. Draw your own conclusions. Also, watch "The Blacklist" tonight as the season ends in a couple of weeks and we're sure they're going to build to that moment.

NBC airs, as the billion of promos have probably made you well aware, the Winter Olympics. That means that for about half of February, they can't air new regularly scheduled programming. Tonight then is the last episode for a bout a month of "The Blacklist." Yes, it's true that we've only gotten three new episodes since the December 2nd fall finale, but that is the way the super-secret cookie crumbles. And, do not fear, the series will still, absolutely, return for more episodes in the not-too-distant future.

Do you remember the explosive fall finale of "The Blacklist?" There was that whole thing with Alan Alda and Red disappearing and that final warning he gave Elizabeth Keen before taking off. Well, what, we ask you, are they going to do now? How are they going to put the band back together? Will Elizabeth do anything about that last warning from Red? Will she learn the truth about her father? There are just so many questions for which we--and you too, presumably--want answers. Tonight, some may be delivered.

Tonight is the second part of the Anslo Garrick story. We know that because the episode is titled "Anslo Garrick - Part 2." Now, Garrick, as we think we said last week, is played by Ritchie Coster, he's the weekly guest star. The interesting question will be how they opted to end this fall run of episodes. We presume that it is something vaguely special because they've opted to go two episodes with the story instead of one. Tune in tonight and we'll see what goes down.

The brilliant thing about doing a series like "The Blacklist" is that by having a new nefarious villain on a weekly basis, you get to have a whole bunch of guest stars, too. So, tonight's episode is called "Anslo Garrick," who is a member of the blacklist. He is going to be played by Ritchie Coster. Coster was on the HBO series "Luck," and has appeared on "Guiding Light," "Law & Order: Criminal Intent, " and "CSI." He also appeared in "The Dark Knight." Tune in to "The Blacklist" tonight and see just what sort of villainy he has planned.

Much in the same way that the guys over on "The Voice" don't get time off for Columbus Day, fugitives who decide to help the Feds for reasons of their own don't get the day off either. See, if you don't decide to play with the government you can more likely set your own hours, but once Spader's Raymond Reddington decided to turn himself in, he had to start punching the clock and that means no Columbus Day break. Yes, okay, technically he probably should get the day because all government offices are closed, but he doesn't. Maybe he needs to be there for six months before he can take any vacation.
