TV Network - NBCNever before (except for all the previous seasons of the show) has being a loser been such a good thing. We would like to suggest, as has (we're convinced) been done before, that everyone on the show is actually a winner. After all, the losers have lost weight making them winners, and the host and trainers get to expand their audience base making them winners too. It really is very much of a win-win situation and just makes you feel good to see (especially if you've ordered an extra large pizza and bucket of diet soda - you wouldn't want to go overboard - to enjoy while watching).

Whatever you may think of the series, it is undeniably true that the individuals on the show work hard -- they have made themselves a goal and they have relentlessly pursued it. We choose to believe that they have done this because they want to be healthier and not just because they know Jillian Michaels is right behind them and is going to get them if they slow down. In our world, she's kind of like the bogeyman, but a bogeyman who intends to do good. Tune in tonight and see just how much good she (and the rest of the trainers) have inspired amongst this season's finalists.

Last night, the new season of "The Biggest Loser" premiered, and while that was great, you were undoubtedly watching "Downton Abbey" at the time and missed it. Never fear, tonight, "The Biggest Loser" hits its actual time slot for the winter and you'll be able to watch without worry of overlap with "Downton." No, they're not going to be reairing last night's episode, but there will almost certainly be a 'previously on' to catch you up with everything that you missed when you were watching Mary and Matthew.

This is it, people, the end of the road, the swan song, the finale, the conclusion, the last credit roll. At least, it's the last time for this season. We're curious though, this was the 13th season of the series, do you feel as though it was a lucky one? Certainly it was lucky for some of the contestants, but was it lucky for you? Was it lucky for the show as whole? Fans of the series are well aware that this was a partner free season, and we think we liked that change; we think it added something to the festivities. We also think it may have made for some interesting off-screen happenings once people are at home with the season finale behind them. If only we could be a fly on those walls.

Okay, we'll be the first to admit it -- we ate a whole lot of food during the holidays... a whole lot of food. The truth is that we without eating during the holidays we feel more than a little empty inside. Consequently, we're counting on this early return for "The Biggest Loser" to get us back into the swing of things, to get us back into good habits, to make sure that we do the right thing not just for our body but for our minds as well. Please, Alison Sweeney and company, set us straight.

As we have stated before, we find it inordinately odd that the big winner on "The Biggest Loser" is the biggest loser. To us, that's counter-intuitive. Can you imagine if, at the end of "The Amazing Race" Phil took a look at the first team to get eliminated and then explained that they had in fact won the whole thing? It would be ludicrous. What if someone who didn't even last long enough to be on the jury in "Survivor" was declared the sole survivor? Bedlam. Bedlam would ensue. That doesn't happen here on "The Biggest Loser," here the biggest loser is the biggest winner. Weird.

As has apparently become a tradition, it's right before Thanksgiving which makes it time for another "Biggest Loser" 'Where are They Now' special. Whether you like the show or not, whether you watch it on a weekly basis or not, you certainly must admit that the show does a good job of making sure those on it lose weight. The question, of course, is what happens when people leave the series. This special tells us just that. We can't say that it provides a complete picture, but it certainly gives a glimpse.

Tonight marks the end of another season of "The Biggest Loser." That means that we'll be getting that all important last weigh in tonight. We'll also be getting smiles, and tears, and choked up goodbyes, and promises to continue in this new vein of life for some time to come. It is going to be a pretty big night for someone on the show (well, a lot of folks, but a lot of folks can't win). If you think you know who the winner is going to be, we encourage you to bet a Twinkie on it.

It just doesn't matter how many seasons of "The Bigest Loser" we watch, we simply can't get over the fact that "The Biggest Loser" is a show where the biggest loser is the biggest winner. We understand that the notion that the loser is the winner is what makes the title cute and clever, but it still confuses us. We far more understand the annual hot dog eating contest where the biggest winner is the person who eats the most. To eat little goes against everything we were ever brought up to believe. We're not suggesting that the folks here are wrong, but are they saying our grandmother was?
