The Amazing Race

The subtitle for this season's "Amazing Race" is "Unfinished Business." What that means is that we're getting a whole bunch of teams who didn't win coming back to try again. We think they would have probably called it "The Amazing Race: First Losers" if they only went out to second place, but the name becomes cumbersome when they go out to third and beyond ("The Amazing Race: First, Second, Third and Fourth Losers" is rather too long). Expect to see some of your favorite teams back again to try and win it all one last time (as well as some of those whom you well and truly hated).

Here we are, cycle 24 of "The Amazing Race." Tune in tonight and get your first chance to see the new teams make their run. By the end of the episode--unless they change things around again--one team will have an express pass (and maybe a second one to give to another team), one team will be eliminated, and a whole bunch of teams will realize that maybe they're in over their heads. The show is all about a race around the world, doing crazy things, and fighting for a chance for a million dollars. It is, in short, a very good time.

The time has come for a new race around the world. Phil Keoghan returns tonight to usher a new group of contestants around the world and we return to watch wondering why we're not there. Seriously, we ought to be there. We would be just awful at the memory challenge at the end of the season, but, yeah, before that we'd be brilliant. More than that, we're sure you would be brilliant as well. Watch tonight and see if you wouldn't do better than at least a few of the teams who set off.

We would love to be able to tell you just who it is that is going home with the million dollars this year, but the truth is that it isn't us and so we're moderately miffed. Oh, sure, you're going to say that just because we weren't on the race that means that we shouldn't get to go home with the prize money. Yeah, well, we feel differently. We have watched the race this season and the conclusion we've come to is that we deserve the cash as much as anyone else. In fact, we deserve the money more than some of them. Still, we won't be winning it this time out. Maybe next year.

If there is one thing that we have learned from "The Amazing Race" it is, quite simply, don't get in the wrong cab. We don't exactly know how we'd implement such a brilliant strategy, but we promise you that it would certainly be our strategy. That, and don't get lost. Think about how many teams through the years have lost a million dollars simply because they got lost or their cab didn't know where to go. We promise you that at least one person gets eliminated this season because of it.
