Like a closing argument from out of left field, blam, the "Suits" season finale is upon us. We had no idea it was here. We had no idea it was coming. We have no idea what we're going to do without our favorite lawyer and our favorite pretend lawyer and our favorite assistant and our favorite paralegal on Thursday nights. There is going to be a gaping black hole in our schedule, a black hole like the one they send you to in prison if you don't behave. "Suits" has been renewed for a third season, but that's months and months away. Maybe we'll sneak into a law office tomorrow pretending to be a judge just to get our fix.

We have been told that we have a good memory, a scarily good memory. We don't quite remember who said that to us or when exactly, but we know someone did at some point... we think it was a guy. Mike Ross here on "Suits," he would remember exactly who said it and when -- he has that sort of memory. He is even a pretty great lawyer, and the only problem with that is that he didn't go to law school. Yeah, that's caused the kid a few issues, but Harvey Specter is there to try and help Mike out (and vice versa). Together, they're the crack legal team on "Suits" and they're summer season ends today.

Okay, fine, we'll admit it, the legal smarts of this series are sometimes kind of lacking -- they don't actually always follow they way the law actually works. On the other hand, one of the main characters isn't a lawyer, he's only pretending to be so maybe that makes up for it. The series stars Gabriel Macht as the actual lawyer and Patrick J. Adams as the not-so-much lawyer. They play and have fun and outsmart other people, but they don't always do any of this together, it's regularly more of an adversarial thing even when it need not be.

We would by lying if we told you that we thought every single moment of this first season of "Suits" has been completely brilliant. The show has had a few missteps here and there ("begging the question" being one... trust us, they blew the definition there), but we've liked a lot of what we've seen. The whole thing has the typical USA off-kilter character and high-gloss sheen to it, which helps make us feel spiffy as we sit there and watch. Speaking of spiffy, and the show's name, we would never buy some of the ties Gabriel Macht's character wears, but the rest of his clothes are quite nice. Watch, you'll probably like them too.
