This morning, at just after 3:00am ET, the complete final season of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" is going to arrive on Netflix.  The show hasn't yet aired anywhere else, the Cartoon Network cancelled the show after five years.  This has been promised, as we understand it, to be the last year for the series and so we're quite curious to see how things wrap up -- even if we know what's coming what with their being four movies that take place following the conclusion of the series.

While we always appreciate new additions to the "Star Wars" universe, the truth of the matter is that we have a hard time trying to figure out whom we should be rooting for on this series.  Do we root for the Separatists who are being controlled by Darth Sidious, a clearly evil dude who is going to become the emperor?  Do we root for the Republic who are being controlled by Chancellor Palpatine, a clearly evil dude who is going to become the emperor?  Some would say to root for the Jedi, but the Jedi have Anakin, whom we know is going to become Vader.  And, don't even get us started on the Clone Troopers who are going to go bad as well.

Quite honestly, we have some trouble squarely placing this series within the "Star Wars" canon.  The characters in it, particularly the characters we know and love from the movies, don't always act as we kind of think they should act.  That troubles us.  We sometimes feel like this bridge between "Episode II" and "Episode III" actually requires another bridge to really connect it to the films.  On the other hand, there are people swinging lightsabers on our televisions on a regular basis thanks to "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" and that's something we greatly appreciate.  Expect tonight's season finale to be a big double-episode of lightsaber swinging fun.

Oh yes, the Force is strong with this one.  We may all think that there wouldn't be much story to tell here as we know where Episode II ended and Episode III began, but we are apparently wrong.  "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" is opening its third season tonight on Cartoon Network and shows absolutely no signs of slowing down.  Would we rather the show skipped forward a little and focused on the events between Episodes III and IV?  Yes, we would, but we are happy to make due with that which George Lucas is willing to offer and suggest you do as well.
