This year we have been treated to 13 episodes of "Sleepy Hollow." Or, more accurately stated, once tonight's back-to-back episodes finish, we will have been treated to 13 episodes. Sadly, those 13 are all we are going to get until the 2014-2015 television season. Oh yes, "Sleepy Hollow" has been renewed and will be back on the air, but it isn't going to happen until the fall at the earliest. We expect that this turn of events means that tonight's back-to-back episodes will be relatively cataclysmic and will end with some sort of major cliffhanger.

While it is true that last year "Sleepy Hollow" got a fall finale, it isn't quite the same as this year's fall finale. Last year's fall finale was also the season finale for the show. This year, that isn't the case. For the series' second season, "Sleepy Hollow" is going to come back in the winter and is looking at running through the final set of episodes with nary a break. As for tonight, expect the episode to feature twists, turns, and a cliffhanger.

One of the ongoing stories on "Sleepy Hollow" is that of Abbie and Jenny's childhood, with their mother playing a particularly important role in that history. Well, tonight's episode is entitled "Mama" and the description states "Abbie and Jenny come face-to-face with their past" in it. Now, we don't know that means that it's going to focus on the Mills' mother, but it does seem like a good possibility, doesn't it?

If there is one thing we have learned from "Sleepy Hollow" here on FOX, it's that the past can come back to haunt you. Of course, it can also come back to help you. Case in point -- The Headless Horseman, he's a bad dude from the past; but Ichabod Crane, he's swell. There is also, as the show explains, evil here and now in the present, and not just because it's come back from the past, but because it was born today and of today. That isn't tonight's evil though, tonight's evil is old, an un-dead Weeping Lady.

"Sleepy Hollow" was the first new brodcast network series from last year to be picked up for a new season, although, perhaps it happened due to circumstances that were outside the norm. You see, it got the pick up during its initial 13 episode run (in early October to be precise), but that run itself wasn't extended to 22 episodes.
This season we are going to get 18 episodes of the series and the horsemen of the apocalypse are out there, so goodness knows what will happen next.

Last week, as you may recall, John Noble ventured to "Sleepy Hollow." Our question is now, with the series' careful building of mythology, how will last week's episode and addition to the mythology affect the series going forward. Tonight is actually episode seven of the 13 episode season, making it the halfway point in the season and the return of John Cho. We don't know where things are headed, but we do know that things are growing ever more tangled and confused and with a second season coming next year we imagine it's only going to get more and more convoluted.

To this point, FOX has been giving us new episodes of "Sleepy Hollow" every Monday and then reairing them on Friday nights. It has allowed for increased opportunities to watch the show should you fall asleep in the middle of an episode. Of course, if you do that tonight, it's entirely possible that the Sandman will get you. Oh yes, the legendary creature is tonight's evil fiend on "Sleepy Hollow." We recommend you stay awake until the end.
