  As a part of a double-dose of TNT season finales tonight, "Rizzoli & Isles" closes out its third season.  Just how will they be closing out said season?  We'd have to assume in a horribly bloody, awfully gruesome, horrifically disgusting way.  The series has already been renewed for a fourth season, so you shouldn't expect one of them to die or anything (yes, it's Christmas, but this isn't exactly "Scrooge & Marley"), but death could still arrive at their doorstep, shake their hand, and stay for a bit of egg nog.

  Ten episodes of this third season of  "Rizzoli & Isles" have already aired.  A total of 15 episodes were ordered, and even if you're bad at math it shouldn't be too tough to figure out that there are but five episodes left.  After tonight, four; after next week, three; and so on until we hit the Christmas Day season finale.  We don't know how we feel about a Christmas Day season finale (who knows that could change), but we are happy that the show is starting up again tonight.  Good times.  Well, except for the victims, for them, the times probably aren't so good.

  There are 15 season three episodes of "Rizzoli & Isles."  Or, and we say this because we don't exactly know their production schedule, there will be a total of 15 episodes in the show's third season.  The summer run of "Rizzoli & Isles" however, won't be airing all 15 of those season three episodes.  Instead, it is only going to feature 10 of those 15, and, sadly, that 10th episode is airing tonight.  Or, said in a far more sane fashion, this is the summer season finale for "Rizzoli & Isles."  Time for the last case of the summer.

  The following to be done in your best Jack Palance voice -- Rizzoli and Isles... Isles and Rizzoli.  You know, like Palance did in "Tango & Cash" back in the day.  Okay, you haven't seen it, we can accept that, but surely you're going to watch this and have already seen a few episodes from earlier seasons.  Rizzoli and Isles are best buds who solve gruesome murders together and have sleepovers (so that if the killer is after one of them they can be protected... really, it happened, we think it was in the pilot).  Plus, they're witty in the way that police detectives often are.

  Earlier tonight we got the winter season finale of "The Closer," which is to say that the overall season for "The Closer" isn't over, it's just over for now.  The same is not true of "Rizzoli & Isles."  "Rizzoli & Isles" is ending its second season tonight.  That's because the season for this show is 15 episodes and for the other is 21.  One wonders if the nice ladies on this show begrudge the nice lady on that show the extra episodes she gets.  We hope not, you don't want to make these two women made, they almost certainly know how to hide a dead body.
