We aren't saying the the reign of "Reign" on The CW's Thursday nights is over, we're just saying that there's a temporary abdication taking place. Well, a temporary lack of new episodes anyway, we do believe that repeats will air through the rest of the year. The salient point, the important fact, the bit you should be paying attention to though is that this is the last new episode of "Reign" for a while. Hopefully it's a powerful one.

Tonight, "Reign" will air its second season fall finale. Now, we don't you to mistake what it is that we're saying -- the reign of "Reign" isn't coming to an end. No one is taking the reins away, they're just being tugged on a little to slow things down. And why is that? It is because this week will mark the 10th new episode in 11 weeks (no new episode on Thanksgiving), and it's high time that everyone take a little bit of a holiday break. So, fall finale tonight, and then next year (at some point) things start up again.

We first heard of Princess Claude last season on "Reign." Tonight, we'll get to see her as she's returning home. Princess Claude is played by Rose Williams and is, as we understand things, currently a guest star role. As you may recall, the Princess is something of a wild child and her visit isn't going to be taken well by Catherine. Depending on how you see the world of "Reign," that's either fantastic or awful.

Want to see Mary go too far? Well, you're going to get the chance tonight. Now, Mary isn't going too far because she's evil, she is (we are told) concerned about people in France starving and general upset. Now, her actions aren't going to make certain other people (probably people with enough food) happy. Just how upset? That we aren't going to say, that would ruin so much... or might ruin so much depending on how it all unfolds.

Want to know how this "Reign" is not like a traditional reign? It is broken up into pieces -- generally speaking, when someone is king or queen of a country, they are king or queen until they die and then they're not king or queen anymore. A television series doesn't have the luxury of pumping out new episodes every single week ad infinitum. No, it has to take breaks and air some repeats. But, happily, the "Reign" repeats end tonight. Tonight we get a new chapter in the tale of Mary, Queen of Scots. Rejoice, loyal subjects, the Queen returns.
