TV Network - Lifetime

Back in January, we got the premiere of the first ever "Project Runway All Stars."  It was a highly successful endeavor, or, at the very least, it was successful enough to be renewed for a second season.  And that season, dear friends, begins tonight.  Carolyn Murphy is stepping into the hosting heels (Angela Lindvall hosted season one) with Georgina Chapman and Isaac Mizrahi returning as judges along with Joanna Coles as the mentor.  You'll even get to see some big names as celebrity judges over the course of the season -- folks like Katie Holmes, Liv Tyler, and Kylie Minogue.  Time to walk the all star runway once more.

Last week we told you how we were kind of okay with it being the finale because it was only the first half of  the finale and "Project Runway" wasn't going to end its season quite yet.  Well, that was last week and this is this week.  This week is the second half of the finale and "Project Runway" is going to end its season with this episode.  As excited as we are to see who wins this year, we're still somewhat upset at the notion that there are going to be no new episodes for a while.  Oh, we'll get over it, but it won't be an instantaneous thing.

The saddest thing about the end of the "Project Runway" season is that we won't be seeing Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum for a while (although, Klum is doing "America's got Talent" this year), but we don't have to worry right now about that.  Why?  Because this is only the first part of the finale, the second part will air next week, and that will truly be the day that makes us sad.  Tonight, instead, we'll look forward to seeing whom is heading towards victory and whom is heading towards defeat, secure in the knowledge that Gunn and Klum will still be on television next week.

Oh sure, much of the nation will be tuned to the NCAA basketball tournament tonight, but there's absolutely no reason that everyone need watch -- there's no need for for everyone to even want to watch.  If you're into competition but basketball isn't quite your style, maybe "Project Runway" is closer to what you're looking for.  This is certainly a tournament, but it's of the fashion design variety not the basketball kind.  What you can be sure of is that just like in the basketball tournament, someone is going home today (okay, in the basketball tournament many people are going home but you get the point).

We love ourselves some "Project Runway" and with that extended period when the show didn't air for a year (or thereabouts) well in the rear view, we couldn't be more pleased.  There is, in our estimation, absolutely no reason why Heidi Klum shouldn't be on our television every single night, doing all the aufffing that needs to be done.  We love Klum.  We love her.  There, we said it, and we somehow feel more free for having announced our love to the world.  You can bet that we will be watching her tonight as the new season begins and in the coming weeks as the season continues.

What do you call it when an a winner is chosen in an all star competition?  To simply refer to them as the winner doesn't feel like enough, does it?  They are like the super all star, aren't they?  They are the starriest of all stars, no?  What do you refer to these folks as?  What is it that we should call them?  Well, tell you what, why don't you think about it while you watch the finale.  Maybe seeing who wins the show will give us an idea of what to call the winner.  You know, like if Bob wins we could call him 'Bob the Winner' and if it's Sue we could call her 'Sue the Champ.'

If there's one thing that you can count on during the finale of a reality contest show, it's that the winner will be revealed.  Of course, it would be an incredible shift in the way a show works to change that formula and it would be the kind of thing that people would talk about for a while, but we don't think that "Project Runway" is going to go that far outside the box.  We think that the odds that you'll find out the winner tonight are incredibly good.  So, place those final bets on who it's going to be and then tune in to see if you're right.

In our flyover description for this week's "Project Runway" we said that you should expect someone to get 'auf'd' tonight, and we stand by that.  No, it doesn't make this episode terribly different from any other episode of "Project Runway," but the weekly auf'ing does have something go for it -- it puts Heidi Klum front and center.  We love "Project Runway," but we think we'd love it even more if Klum and Tim Gunn somehow managed to be in every single shot.  It might change the character of the show a little, but the two of them are just excellent.

Go ahead, try and tell us that we're wrong, try and tell us that it's not interesting seeing these fashion designers try to design something truly spectacular on a weekly basis.  Tell us that it's not wonderful hearing Tim Gunn shout at them to 'make it work' over and over and over again.  Tell us that it's not wonderful seeing someone new get auf'd every single week.  It is fantastic.  It is wonderful, and it is why "Project Runway" is currently in season 10 and has already been renewed all the way through season 15.  Watch tonight, watch next week, and watch next year.

This, as if you didn't know, is the 10th season of "Project Runway."  We expect there to be massive, huge, ridiculous, insane, over-the-top things happening all season long in order to celebrate.  We expect Klum to actually auf someone and we think Tim Gunn is probably just going to record himself saying 'make it work' in a tape recorder and then every time a contestant asks him a question he'll just bust it out and play the track.  Plus, when they say this is being filmed in the Big Apple, they probably actually mean some sort of "James and the Giant Peach" thing... except with an apple.  Big season, people, big season.

People, we have come to the end of the runway, and much like a jet when it does so, there are but two options:  come to a screeching halt or soar like an eagle.  The way we see it, whether this season soars or screeches is going to come down to the selection of the winner.  We are definitely pulling for soar (and not just because it will help us in the HitFix predictions game) and recommend you do too... screeching hurts the ears and can cause whiplash.  May the right person get auf'd tonight.

Tell us the truth -- you would kill to be on "Project Runway" just so that you could get auf'd by Heidi Klum, wouldn't you?  We know that we would consider it an honor and a privilege to have Tim Gunn look at us and shout at the top of his lungs that we just have to 'Make it work!' There is in fact little that we don't absolutely love about "Project Runway."  From Klum to Gunn to the judges to the contestants, "Project Runway" continues to be incredibly interesting no matter how long it has been on the air.  It is time for the new season to begin.

We are very sorry to have to announce that this is the second part of the season eight finale for "Project Runway."  What that means is that tonight we will get  a final winner, an ultimate loser, and the pang of regret that comes with knowing that there are no new episodes of "Project Runway" coming in the next few months.  It's a sad moment and we really don't find it all that easy to balance the happy with the sad.  We wallow.  We're wallowers.  It's just who we are and after these 90 minutes we may very well be wallowing for some time to come.

Heidi Klum is back!  Yes, yes, the other judges/mentors are as well, but it's really Klum that we care about most.  Does that make us some sort of pig, where we can only look at the supermodel and not the highly talented and skilled mentors and judges?  Goodness no, and it's a little silly you'd think that way.  Klum is the host of the series, she is the main individual there week after week after week.  We place Klum in a position of primacy for our viewing because the series' producers put her there and we do not wish to rock the boat.  Watch the new season (which starts tonight), see if we're wrong.

There can be... only one!  Well, there can really be only one per season, and in this case that's.... well, we're not going to tell you that.  If you want to know who wins "Project Runway" this year you're just going to have to tune in to find out.  Actually, strike that, you know who the winner is?  If you're tuning in, you're going to be the winner because you're going to get to watch all the excitement and drama and goodness know what else unfold. Plus, you'll get to see Heidi Klum, and really, what could possibly be bad about that?

We know it may seem as though we all just finished saying Auf Wiedersehen to the last season of "Project Runway," but the new one begins tonight.  Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, Nina Garcia, and Michael Kors are all back to tell the contestants just exactly what they think of the designs.  As always, we hope that the judges will be brutally honest (emphasis on the brutal).  We are not being mean, it's just that when the contestants get auf'ed we feel as though they ought to know exactly why they've been auf'ed and have seen the auf'ing coming from a mile auf.

You are the weakest link, goodbye.  No, that's not it.  You're fired.  No, that's not right either.  I'm sorry to tell you that you are the last team to arrive. No.  The tribe has spoken.  Nope. Auf Wiedersehen!  That's the ticket!  It's time to actually declare a winner on "Project Runway" this season, and even though we're going to miss Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn (until the next season rolls around), we are quite curious to find out exactly who walks away as the champ, and who gets auf'd.

You've heard all about the legal wranglings between Lifetime, NBC-Universal and the Weinstein Company to disentangle the Emmy-nominated "Project Runway" from Bravo.

Season Six of the Peabody-winning series is finally ready to come to Lifetime, with host Heidi Klum in tow.

Expect more flamboyant fashions and even more flamboyant personalities. Mentor Tim Gunn and judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia also return.

The show will be followed by "Models of the Runway," an original half-hour companion series focusing on the "Project Runway" models.
