$#*! My Dad Says

The first season of "$#*! My Dad Says" is drawing to a close this evening and that means there will be one fewer sitcoms based on Twitter feeds with new episodes airing next week. It also means that William Shatner will have less hours on primetime devoted to his visage. We don't know how we feel about any or all of those things. There's a certain comfort to having Shatner in primetime, it means that he almost certainly isn't recording an album, but maybe it's okay for us to step outside our comfort zone for a few months.

We'd like to think that William Shatner's Ed is going to get a shot at love tonight, but odds are that he probably won't. Our hope stems from Tila Tequila's appearance on the show, but unfortunately, she's going to be playing the wife of a neighbor and we just don't imagine that Ed would pursue her (yes, we're totally ignoring the fact that Tila doesn't seem to be Ed's type). Maybe one of Ed's kids (we won't say which) will be pursuing Tila's character, but that too doesn't seem like the sort of thing of which he'd approve.

We don't want to really spoil exactly what brings Ed Begley Jr.'s character onto the show tonight, but rest assured he does appear. Actually, we can be more specific without spoiling anything - Ed Begley Jr plays Bonnie's father (Bonnie being the woman married to Vince). Can we be even more specific than that? Why yes, we very well imagine we could, but we don't imagine that Ed (Shatner's character, not Mr. Begley) would approve of that. Wouldn't he want you to figure the whole thing out for yourself? You know he would.

Wow, we're looking at not one, but two crotchety old men on the show this week. Shatner is, of course, always there, and Mahoney is going to be joining him as a guest star. The former "Frasier" star is playing an old, 'narrow-minded' Navy buddy of Shatner's Ed. We do wonder if they're using the term narrow-minded in comparison to Ed or as a complete separate thing, because if Mahoney's character is narrow-minded in comparison to Ed, this episode will truly be something to behold. If not, we still expect it to be excellent, but maybe not as excellent.

Missi Pyle is putting in an appearance on the Shatner show this week (which, if you didn't know has been picked up for a full season). She'll be the crazy boss of Bonnie and Vince, and for those of you paying attention, this isn't the first time Pyle has been on a show with Shatner. Missi Pyle also appeared on "Boston Legal," and we certainly hope that this series references that one, especially as Shatner was the crazy boss there and Pyle is the crazy boss here. Surely someone besides us worked that out, right?
