My big fat Gypsy Wedding

A wedding on 'My Big Fat Gypsy' Wedding

Last week, "My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding" offered up a Christmas special, but that doesn't mean that they can't do something else pretty special the day after Christmas, does it?  No, of course it doesn't.  Tonight's episode is called "Luck of the Irish" and we therefore believe will focus itself on Irish gypsies and Irish gypsy traditions.  Will there be anything particularly holiday-ey about it?  Well, since every wedding a holiday for those involved?

Coming to us from across the pond (and yet not airing on BBC America) is "My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding."  The show gives us a look at weddings thrown by 'gypsies' and 'travellers' who live in Britain.  Now, some of you may be expecting to see Eddie Izzard or Minnie Driver to appear on the show, but we don't think that's going to happen.  Yes, they played travellers on "The Riches," but not travellers in England and this is more of a reality than the scripted series was.  It is a nice idea for them to be on, but we don't see it happening.

Quite honestly, the title of this series is something of a misnomer, it doesn't just focus on gypsy weddings.  It also follows gypsy communions and gypsy christenings.  In fact, if you must know, it goes well beyond those three events, exploring just what it may mean to be a gypsy living in the UK.  See, the wedding title is just the provocative bit that there's to convince you to watch the series as a whole.  This is your last opportunity to see the premiere of a first season episode, because this is the last one this season.
