He has clearly come a long way from the creek.  James Van Der Beek shows up at Mercy Hospital tonight as Dr. Joe Briggs, the new head of the ICU.  Now, if we had to bet, we imagine that not only will at least one of the nurses become rather smitten with Dr. Briggs, but that his style of management will clash with the established practices of the hospital.  There will be a push, a pull, and if we're really lucky, a visit to the supply closet involved.  That's right, the supply closet.
