Last Comic Standing

Last week we got one of those extended premiere things that networks tend to do, it offered up a two hour glimpse into the reborn "Last Comic Standing." That is not what tonight's episode will feature. Oh, it will still be a glimpse into the reborn series, but it will only be an hour-long glimpse, and said hour-long glimpse is going to take place at the regularly scheduled "Last Comic Standing" time as opposed to the earlier time.

What should you expect from tonight's "Last Comic Standing?" Laughs. You should expect laughs and you should expect a freewheeling good time and you should expect to have fun. Some of that will be because the show is just generally funny and some of it is because tomorrow's a holiday and that makes today a holiday eve and everything is just a little bit more magical on a holiday eve. Watch and see for yourself.

The last new episode of "Last Comic Standing" was back in August of 2010. Now, you know how we say that no series is ever officially cancelled, they just go away for a while and then maybe don't come back? Yeah, this is that except that after going away for a while, the show is coming back, and it's coming back tonight. Expect to see a slightly different format, and a completely different set of judges. Keenen Ivory Wayans, Roseanne Barr, and Russell Peters are hosting the show this year, with JB Smoove hosting.

It is implicit in the title of the show - by the end of the season we will learn exactly who is the last comic standing. Tonight is the season finale and that means that tonight we do in fact learn who is the last comic standing. We don't actually mean the last comic standing anywhere ever, after all, there are still plenty of comics left in the world, we mean the last comic remaining on the show (you know, besides the judges and host). Will your pick for best contestant on the show win? Ours was eliminated weeks ago, but that doesn't mean we won't be happy for you if you are right.

Last Monday was kind of a busy Monday televisually speaking and so we imagine that you missed out on the first night of the semi-finals of "Last Comic Standing." We didn't because we watch everything that's on TV all the time (long live the new flesh!), but it would be understandable if you did. Consequently we highly recommend you tune in tonight as the show has now gotten rid of the riff-raff and you can laugh with the comics remaining instead of at them, and that's always a plus. It's not that we're against laughing at comics, it's just better when they're purposefully funny.
