As much fun as it might be for this show to focus on Samuel Gerard, or at the very least Cosmo Renfro, it doesn't. Instead it's all about one Raylan Givens, who, as his name might hint at, does in fact wear a cowboy hat. There's nothing wrong with that of course, and it's pretty good way for the series to let us know that Givens is an old-school, 19th Century-type lawman. Givens is the kind of guy who gets things done, whether or not his bosses approve. He's the kind of you don't want chasing you if you're a criminal. How do we know all that? The cowboy hat.

This season, Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) confronts the Crowes, a deadly, lawless family from Florida intent on settling in Harlan with new criminal enterprises in mind. Meanwhile, Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) struggles to free his imprisoned fiancée Ava (Joelle Carter) as he partners with the Dixie Mafia’s Wynn Duffy (Jere Burns). Based on the late Elmore Leonard’s short story Fire in the Hole, Justified was developed for television by Graham Yost.

Ah, Raylan Givens. We love that man. He isn't always the easiest person to love if you have to actually interact with him, but we don't, we just get to sit back and watch him on TV and that way he's super easy to love. Why? Because he has a strong moral code, because he knows right from wrong, because he never stops going after what is right, and because Timothy Olyphant is truly wonderful in the role. Plus, Goggins is great as Crowder. And, everyone else is, too (not as Crowder, as their characters). Watch tonight's season finale and see if we're not right.

On tonight's episode of "Justified," there is a wrong which Raylan feels as though he has to right. Okay, maybe that makes it a lot like other episodes of "Justified," but as you may be aware, other episodes of "Justified" are great so why wouldn't this one be great as well? Tune in and see if you don't find yourself enjoying the tales of the man with cowboy hat who places himself directly in the path of evil in order to save us all.

There are people out there who have to go out and make the world a better place. Some of these people wear badges but test the limits of the badge. It is truly excellent when these folks wear cowboy hats as well and go by the name of Raylan Givens. If you like police shows, if you like mysteries, if you like good dramas, you need to be watching "Justified." Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens has a definite worldview, a definite sense of what he needs to accomplish, and you just have to sit back and watch.

Deputy US Marshal Raylan Givens will start to pick at the thread of a cold case of 30 years in the making, unraveling a riddle that echoes all the way back to his boyhood and his criminal father's bad dealings. Meanwhile, Boyd Crowder finds his grip on Harlan loosening due to a Pentecostal preacher with a penchant for theatrics and a knack for manipulation to rival his own.

We operate under the belief that the hat makes the man, and that makes Deputy US Marshal Raylan Givens a cowboy and something of a throwback. We like that about him. It isn't that Givens isn't in the here and now (the series is not set in the Old West), it's that there's something about a man in a cowboy hat that really lets you know where the fellow is coming from. Have we told you this before? Of course we have, but that doesn't make our saying it any less true today than it was then. Tune in tonight and see if Givens is going to put all the baddies either behind bars or underground. We bet he does well, but doesn't completely eliminate evil from the world.

Tonight, Deputy US Marshal Raylan Givens is back on the case. Or, perhaps, more accurately he's back on a new case. Wait, that's not right either, we're told that this season the guy is back on an old case, an old cold case (or would that be a cold old case?). Whatever the specifics, the Marshal is back and is going to be on the hunt for baddies. That, after all, is the job of a Deputy US Marshal. Your job is to sit there and watch the Deputy US Marshal do all the hard work. Honestly, you've gotten off pretty easy, you should just accept your fate and tune in.

In March it was announced that "Justified" would indeed return for a fourth season and, as happy as that makes us, we're still up to our eyeballs in the third season. It all ends tonight, but there still an awful lot that we think has to happen before those credits roll. It has been another good season for the series and to focus on what's coming down the line before we get through where we are now would, we think, be a disservice to "Justified," and not a disservice that Givens would take lightly. You don't want to cross Raylan Givens, at least, we don't want to cross him.

Earlier this evening, President Obama spent a good deal of time discussing the state of the union in his State of the Union address. While we espouse no political beliefs one way or the other (outside of recommending us as a write-in candidate for any and all offices), we think that after the annual address a lot of people tend to feel a little bit down (or, at the very least, sleepy). Well, "Justified" is just the sort of show to knock the downness right out of you. It features excellent acting, great characters, and wonderful storytelling. Probably you ought to be watching this show on a weekly basis anyway, but if you're looking to add a little extra oomph to your night following the speech, "Justified" is the way to go.

At this moment we have an incredible desire to tell you how justified you are in your watching of "Justified," that the show is justifiably great, that the series has (more than once) justified its existence. Of course, if we did that you would probably think us completely insane and, guess what, you'd be justified in that opinion. Consequently, we won't do that, making any opinions you have which come down on the side of our not playing with a full deck less than... justified. Oh, wow, we did it, didn't we? We used the word 'justified' repeatedly. Well, the show starts up again tonight. Watch.

People, with good reason, love their "Justified." Let's face it, there's a ton to love about the series, from the portrayal of the characters to the acting to the writing to the stories themselves, "Justified" just manages to hit so many of the right notes. And, what's more, the series tends to work beyond the printed page and the on screen depictions of the characters; the series just has a 'feel' to it that really fits. Even though this is the season final and therefore your last chance to see a new episode for a while, we still recommend that you check it out, you won't be sorry.

Season one of "Justified" ended with something of a gun battle. We're not going to get into the whys and wherefores of it all, but know that it ended with a gun battle and that one side won and the other lost. What that means in a show like this is that there is a void to be filled. See, if the good guys won, other bad guys are going to show up to take the first bad guys place, and if the bad guys won, there's no way that the law won't send another Marshal to try and clean up what the first one couldn't. You just watch and see what happens here.

We don't know exactly what is going to happen tonight on "Justified," but we do know that it's the season finale. Not only that, we know that the series has been renewed for a second season and that does have certain implications. The first of those is that whatever happens tonight is not final, you may think someone is dead but they aren't necessarily. Second, anyone can actually die (but check their contract to see if they'll be around next year to confirm). And, third, no matter what, there will be more episodes down the line. We hope that season two will rename the series "Justifiedier."
