Yes, it is true, in what has become an irregular stunt pulled by more than one television series, "Hot in Cleveland" is going to do a live episode tonight.  How will it differ from the live episodes of "Roc," or "ER," or "The West Wing?"  Well, odds are that it will be more humorous than the latter two and take place more in Cleveland than the Baltimore-based former.  Plus, we expect a complete dearth of Charles S. Dutton, and that really is a shame.  Also, no Jimmy Smits nor Alan Alda nor Anthony Edwards nor George Clooney.  Instead, it'll have the stars of "Hot in Cleveland," including America's national treasure, Betty White.

It isn't that we don't get a lot of "Hot in Cleveland" episdoes in a run (this is the 12th straight one), it's just that the show always disappears too soon.  Tonight is the last new episode until--gulp--June 19th.  At least, that's when the next new episode is scheduled.  So, no matter whether you live in Cleveland or Akron or Cincinnati or even, perchance, a place outside of Ohio, you should tune in tonight and watch the last new episode for the next four months.  You'll be glad you did, especially if you like comedy and Betty White (she's a national treasure).

You remember that "Cougar Town" episode from last season where the cul de sac crew dealt with people leaving Christmas lights up too long?  Well, "Hot in Cleveland" is not that person.  No, here we are, the day after Christmas, and they're airing a new episode.  It's like, according to them, we're not all still trying to digest that fourth serving of turducken that we had last night.  Well, no matter how much turducken is stuffed into your belly, you best have left some room for laughs.

This whole sitcom began with the premise that these women, who were a little past their prime for folks in Los Angeles, were 'hot in Cleveland.'  In fact, that's where the series' title comes from.  Well, we ask you, are they still going to be hot four years later?  Will they have to move to some other market at this point?  Could the show be rebranding itself "Attractive in Toledo?"  Well, maybe not today, but perhaps by the time the 10th season rolls around.  Or, maybe they'll do it as a spinoff, one with just Betty White.  Will they launch it tonight?  Probably not, but can you honestly afford to take that chance?

There is a certain sense of despair which can permeate the holiday season -- many television series find themselves on hiatus and consequently we end up with a glut of reruns.  Well, if the rerun blues have you down, might we suggest that you try tuning in to "Hot in Cleveland" tonight -- the women who are, apparently, 'hot in Cleveland' are going to be present with a new 30 minutes of fun (minus commercial breaks).  People, Betty White is on this show and if the past few years have taught us anything, it's that she's a national treasure.  You might just be obligated to tune in.

The end of the season is always a good time to sum things up, to reflect on what's occurred, and to see if any important lessons or bits of wisdom have been imparted.  For example, on "House," you could say that you learned that cars are meant to be driven on the street.  What do you think the lessons of this season's "Hot in Cleveland" might be?  Surely at this point we're past these women just being hot in Cleveland.  The season finale is tonight so maybe we'll learn after it what the lesson is to be.  We expect 500 words on the main lesson of this season in the morning.

That's right people, Spring has sprung, the grass has ris (please leave the flowers where they is), and it's time for the Spring finale of "Hot in Cleveland."  Season two as a whole isn't completed yet--and season three has already been ordered--but this is the last new episode we're going to get for several months (currently the show is scheduled to return in mid-June).  So, soak in all the funny goodness that "Hot in Cleveland" has to offer tonight, because the next new episode is a heck of a long way off.

We spent a lot of time debating whether or not the single sentence description for this entry ought to call the stars 'women' or 'girls.'  We were tempted to go with girls because we felt as though the characters would appreciate it as it makes them sound younger.  On the other hand, it does, in some sense, diminish them and we certainly wouldn't want to do that; not just because it's wrong, but because we think they could hurt us if they tried.  Were it guys who starred in the series we might refer to them as 'boys,' but we're not sure this is a goose and gander kind of a thing.  What it is, however, is a funny show, so watch tonight's season premiere.

Please don't tell us that you were one of those people who tuned in for the first episode or two of "Hot in Cleveland" and then completely forgot about the series.  We don't particularly want to hear your excuses, even if they're moving from California to NY and spending two weeks in the car to make the move happen.  That's weak.  Did you have time to stop and sleep?  Then you had time to watch the other episodes of "Hot in Cleveland."  You know you like Betty White, you know you like Valerie and Wendy and Jane too, so do yourself a favor, tune in to the season finale and we'll just forget about your skipping the middle of the season.  Deal?
