Expect a big season finale from "Homeland" tonight. Don't expect the world to come to a cataclysmic end or anything like that, just expect it to be big, and twisty, and impressive... and great performances, definitely expect great performances. Okay, now that we've said what you should expect, maybe Showtime will drop the ball and give us a C-SPAN-like conclusion that takes place entirely within a Congressional subcommittee. Yeah, we don't see that happening. People love "Homeland" and its award-winning first season really set the stage for this second season. See what they do to close it out and setup season three tonight.

The first season of "Homeland" won several major awards and had tons more nominations. The show, at least in its first season, was about this CIA officer who kind of thought that a member of the U.S. military had been turned by Al-Qaeda and was planning on carrying out a terrorist attack on U.S. soil. Then, things happened. Listen, we're not going to tell you how the season ended, we're just going to say that you really ought to catch up with the first season and then sit yourself down to watch the second season premiere today. You can thank us later.

If you haven't seen any of this season of "Homeland," you've missed something impressive. We have been treated to a good story and some really good acting by our leads. It almost makes us forget about that other show Danes was on as a kid, what was it, that so-called series that everyone liked so much. The show has already been renewed for season two which will have another 12 episodes, but we would seriously doubt that there was time to change this season's finale in light of the renewal. How will it all end tonight? We shall see, we shall see...

With the help of her mentor (played by Mandy Patinkin), Clarie Danes' character here is tasked with piecing together the story of what happened with a soldier in Afghanistan and his possible connection to an Al Qaeda plot. Naturally though, Danes' CIA officer is plagued by her own set of demons. What fun would a cop show be if the investigative officer were some sort of super-human without major demons of their own to battle? It is our sincere hope that her demons are in fact actual demons, it really would a new twist to the series as a whole, wouldn't it.
