AMC has had great success airing a television show about the 1960s, great success. Figuring that going back 50 years brought the network luck, they're now going to go back 150 years for this new show. "Hell on Wheels" takes place in post-Civil War America, and follows the story of the railroad amongst other things. We assume that's where the "wheels" bit of the title comes in, the "hell" part probably has to do with the corporate (or company) greed of said railroads. We imagine that if done right, the series can spark an Occupy Reading Railroad movement.
