Poor Will Schuester, our favorite glee club faculty advisor is sick tonight and that means that Gwyneth Paltrow will be forced to take over his class. We know, you may not think of that as being the worst thing ever, but it pretty much is. Can you imagine how hard it would be for you to get your class to like you again if Gwyneth Paltrow substituted for you for a day? What if she was in your cubicle for a day? Your coworkers would never want to see you again - it's not that they don't like you or anything, but this is Gwyneth Paltrow we're talking about (she named her baby Apple).

Well, here we are. Somehow, some way, some new cast, "Glee" is hitting episode 100. The show may not be the powerhouse it once was, but it is here, and it is trying. Certainly this particular season has been a particularly challenging one for the show following the loss of Cory Monteith. How exactly will the series celebrate 100 episodes? What cast members will return? What songs will they sing? What horrible bit of high school life will they have to endure?
Feb 25, 2014TV Network - FOX
In less than a month, "Glee" will celebrate its 100th episode. We will, of course, be sure to tell you when that moment happens, but you can bet that starting with the return of new episodes tonight (the last new episode was mid-December), they will be promoting that upcoming episode. You can understand where they're coming from, tonight is episode 97, they're going to hit that magic mark at which so few television series arrive, and they're going to be singing on the way to it. Singing we tell you, singing.

Ah, Billy Joel. We could tell you stories about Billy Joel, and at least one of them would have to do with his first name being Billy and his last name being Joel. But, let us not bore you with tales of his lineage, let us instead tell you that his songbook is going to be mined tonight on "Glee" as the New Directions sing the songs of the Piano Man... possibly including "Piano Man." We are virtually certain that "Movin' Out" will be featured as well as it's the title of the episode. As for things like "We Didn't Start the Fire" and "The Entertainer," that we can't say for certain, we can only hope.

This is the first "Glee" episode following "The Quarterback," which aired back in early October and was in remembrance of Cory Monteith. It will be interesting to watch the show return tonight and see what sort of tone they strike and move forward. It can't be an easy episode for them to have filmed, and we wonder what they're going to do to not move past the loss, but rather continue on after it.
Oct 10, 2013TV Network - FOX
As you well know, this past summer Cory Monteith passed away due to an overdose. Tonight, "Glee" will be honoring the memory of Monteith. We expect to see an emotional, heartfelt tribute, one which will require much kleenex and a lot of head shaking. "Glee" alums will return for the episode and it has been reported that the songs will all be ones previously sung by Monteith. While the episode won't be easy to watch, we believe that it was undoubtedly far more difficult to film.

Season 4 of the exhilarating Emmyr-winning series* finds Rachel and Kurt in New York City, Finn with a surprising new career, Will and Emma at a crossroads and Sue confronting a shocking situation! Meanwhile, tension mounts as the kids in New Directions head for Regionals, facing new challenges. Featuring exciting new cast members, electrifying musical numbers, and superstar guests like Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Hudson and Whoopi Goldberg, Glee remains TV's most enthralling, most topically relevant show.

There was a whole big group of people out there (like some of us here) who were never really all that enthralled with "Glee" even when the masses were high on it. But, don't let it be suggested that the producers behind the series aren't going to do everything they possibly can to recpature the viewers they have lost over the past year or two. How are they going to do that? Well, we certainly hope with more rap songs from Will Schuester. Come on, how do you not like it when Will raps? Everyone likes it when Will raps, even those who pretend that they don't.

People are suggesting that, miraculously, after the first few episodes of this season, "Glee" has seen a dramatic rise in quality. It may no longer be fashionable to suggest that "Glee" is not the series it once was, but rather is now the show it always could have been. Plus, Matthew Morrison is on less than in the past. Why don't you tune into the series tonight and see for yourself if the show is back in top form, has entered even topper form, or is still in the doldrums that marked many an episode lat year. Come on, what will it cost you, it's not like the singing is all out of tune or anything.

Ask us what our favorite holiday movie is. Go ahead, ask us. It might just be "Love, Actually" (in fact, we're totally non-committal on that, but we're leaning in that direction). Tonight, "Glee" takes what might be our favorite holiday movie and does a whole riff on it (they're calling it an 'homage' but that's too fancy a word for us to use). We don't understand exactly how the Mayan Apocalypse fits into the whole thing (that wasn't in "Love, Actually" was it?), but apparently it does. Who doesn't love Brittany (and "Love, Actually").
Nov 15, 2012TV Network - FOX
This season "Glee" has been doing this dual (or perhaps duel) thing where they're partially in New York and partially in Lima. The main reason to be in New York is because that's where Kurt and Rachel are and the main reason to be in Lima is because that's where the glee club is. At least for a little while, that is being taken care of as tonight Rachel and Kurt are going to be in Lima and not New York. Apparently Kate Hudson will still be on (she's one of Rachel's teachers) but we've still been promised that Rachel and Kurt will be hitting Ohio (because, as we've repeatedly been told -- only Ohio matters).
Sep 13, 2012TV Network - FOX
How different, exactly, will "Glee" look this year? Last year the show, or at the very least the glee club, lost some of its key members. It will necessarily affect the series and how the new season unfolds. The question is, after something of an uneven third season, if these changes can positively affect the show and lead us to a far superior season four? Will we care as much about the club now that so many key members have gone? Those questions and more start to get answered tonight.

Season Three of the electrifying, award-winning series finds the Gleeks headed for the Nationals - and graduation! As younger members join New Directions, others are about to begin exciting, if uncertain, lives outside it. Featuring some of television's most enthralling song and dance numbers, including memorable hits from the legendary Michael Jackson, Glee continues to earn its place in the hearts of viewers around the world.

We will admit to you that this particular season of "Glee" hasn't necessarily been entirely successful. Some of the episodes have been quite excellent, other episodes less so. We hope, for everyone involved (including the audience), that tonight's season finale is one of the better episodes. What will happen to the graduating characters next year? We have no clue. All we know is that tonight's finale airs after "American Idol," so it may not be a terrible idea to set your DVR to run a little long tonight to be sure that you don't miss the end of "Glee."
May 15, 2012TV Network - FOX
Okay, so not only are there back-to-back episodes of "Glee" tonight, one of which is entitled "Nationals," but LIndsay Lohan is going to be on and the last time we read a tabloid, she was turning over a new leaf and opting to fly the straight and narrow. Well, she was opting to do that again because as we recall she was relatively normal before she went overboard back in the day. Either way though, she's going to be with the kids of "Glee," and there is nothing normal or straight and narrow about them, so she may appear regular by comparison.
Apr 10, 2012TV Network - FOX
A lot of change is coming to "Glee," or is it? No fewer than four different members of the glee club are graduating in a few short weeks and that means that things may be radically different come September than they are now. We are now facing the run-up to that nationals and the last chance that Rachel Berry has to win a championship. Is she going to pull out all the stops and do everything it takes to win no matter who she has to ruin, or has she grown over the past three seasons and realized that her ambitions aren't an excuse to walk all over her friends? We can't say that we know either way, but all will be revealed before the season ends.

Though, according to the ratings, a dwindling number of people are watching the show, we don't believe that a smaller number of people are going to care that the show is going to air no new episodes over the course of the entire month of March. How do we arrive at that conclusion if the ratings are shrinking? Well, correct us if we're wrong, but people either love this series or love to hate it, but they always still seem to be talking about it, no? No new episodes in March means no more talking about it, and that means a lot of unhappy people on both sides of the love/hate coin.

If you've been following the availability of "Glee" albums on iTunes and elsewhere, you've been expecting this episode for a while as the CD for it was released a while back. Yes, "Glee" is doing the holidays again this year and they're doing them tonight. Expect lots of joy, lots of merriment, and who knows, maybe Santa (or the Grinch) will show up again this year to either increase or decrease Brittany's understanding of the holidays and what they may or may not mean. In the realms of what we don't understand, how Brittany has gotten this far in life is somewhere nestled in the middle.

Here is the thing, the staging of high school musicals on TV is nothing new, it wasn't even new for "High School Musical." Frankly, we're not even sure it was new when it was done on "Head of the Class," but that's certainly where we remember it from. "Glee" of course, tends to do these things with more 'style' than other series, but we do question the use of "West Side Story." It feels just a little too coincidental that this week the kids are in final preparations and next week the film hits Blu-ray in a 50th anniversary edition. Just something to think about, no matter how much you like to be in America. Still, these guys are probably going to do justice to the show.

Everyone always does their best to come out really big in the season premiere and get folks all excited about the upcoming season. It is because of that desire to come out big that sometimes the second episode of a show is more telling than the first. "Glee" was kind of a disappointment in its second season, so everyone will be monitoring season three rather closely to see if they can fix their mistakes. With any luck, this week's episode provides a true test of where the show is heading this season (and again, with any luck, that'll be a better place than it went last year).
Sep 20, 2011TV Network - FOX
We are not going to lie to you, season two of "Glee" was kind of rocky (and not just because of the Halloween episode). There were definitely some great moments over the course of the season, but they were fewer and farther between than they were in season one. There are lots of folks out there who want to see the series return to its season one glory and there are still others who would probably like to see it slip further from that. Well, both the lovers and the haters will get to see where things may be headed tonight.
May 24, 2011TV Network - FOX
Ah "Glee," that ratings wonder which has proven somewhat less wonderful content-wise during its second season. It's not that we haven't just loved the songs and guest stars and pomp and circumstance, it just seems somewhat less full of oomph in season two. We imagine that this problem will be corrected in season three once they realize that they simply have to let Matt Morrison rap in every single episode. Seriously, where have the raps been this season? Don't you want to hear him doing 2 Live Crew in season three (the episode could be all about freedom of speech!)?

No, no, this isn't a repeat - yes, "Glee" did some Gaga last season, but they're doing some more tonight. Not only that, but the series is doing a 90 minute episode for this Gaga adventure. Right now you're wondering if there's some sort of potential over-exposure going on with either "Glee" or Gaga or both, but that's a rather pessimistic way of thinking about things. Don't think that these are some sort of crazy marketing machines running amok with all the synergistic experiences they can deliver, they're doing everything the best they can and, after all, they were born this way.

We're not saying that Stamos and Paltrow coming back together - that would be particularly odd as Stamos' dentist is married to Emma - but they're both going to be on this week's episode and it's been a goodly long time since we've since either character. Who knows, maybe they will end up together and then Emma can be with Will and that whole storyline can end and we can move on to something far more interesting. Either that or maybe Paltrow's Holly Holliday will end up with Will. We don't see that happening, but that would be a pretty good get for Mr. Shue.
Feb 06, 2011TV Network - FOX
"Glee" has been a strong performer in the ratings this entire season, but expect tonight's "Glee" episode to be, far and away, the biggest ratings grabber they have all year. The series has been given the coveted post-Super Bowl time slot which always means a big audience. It also means that we should expect a pretty big episode and the producers to pull out all the stops. Also, you should probably expect the episode to start a little late - if you're planning on using your DVR, make sure that you set it to run late.

We cannot possibly express our happiness at the notion that "Glee" is doing "Rocky Horror." It's going to be fantastic. We hope that they don't have to skip some of the more racy bits, but sadly they almost certainly will. We also hope that they find a better role for Artie than that of Dr. Scott, but have to figure that everyone will point out that Dr. Scott was in a wheelchair and that Artie is in a wheelchair so it's an easy fit. Oh well, you can't have everything, and as long as we have the 'Time Warp' it will be enough.

We say the following in order to ensure we fill our bad pun quota for this week - We're betting that Britney Spears' appearance on "Glee" this week will be anything but toxic for the series. Phew, now that that's over with, let's get down to business... It seems as though "Glee" will have a full house this week as both Britney Spears and John Stamos are guest starring (and now we're over our bad pun quota). It is our fondest hope that not only do they sing Britney songs, but that they have mercy and do some Elvis too (quota destroyed... we're so happy Stamos is doing a multi-episode arc!).

We have, quite literally, been waiting all summer for this moment. Ever since the last season finale we've been looking forward to the moment when "Glee" would return and it has finally arrived. We've been listening to last season's songs all summer long and while we love each and every one of them, we're ready for some new stuff. Forget what Sue said in the Madonna episode, William Schuester, we love you. But not only you, Will, we also love Mercedes and Kurt and Finn and Rachel and Puck and the whole crew. We're so excited and we just can't hide it.

It just doesn't seem fair, does it? Here, the very title of the show asks us to be happy, to take some measure of joy from what we're witnessing, and yet at the same time we're being told that this is the season finale. How can we possibly be happy, how can we possibly put on a brave face, knowing that we won't see this kooky band of misfits in new episodes for months on end? It's okay to admit that it hurts inside to know that this is the finale, it hurts us too. We just ask you to remember that, even without new episodes of "Glee," the sun will still rise tomorrow... probably.

Now, we're not putting "Glee" on the list of shows you ought to watch again just for kicks - it's May and we know you're quite busy. We're listing "Glee" this week once again because not only is Neil Patrick Harris going to be on, not only is Molly Shannon going to be on (again), but the episode is directed by Joss Whedon. That's right, Joss Whedon. We all know Joss can direct a musical episode of a regular series, but the question is can he direct a musical episode of a musical series. We think he can.

You may know her as the girl who played the lead role in that film with John Travolta about the people who put tons of stuff in their hair. We prefer to remember her as the woman who listened to our body talk (our body talk), the one with whom we got animal. Olivia Newton-John is going to be getting her "Glee" on this week. Not only that, but Molly Shannon will be joining her. We don't mean, necessarily, that she'll be joining her on screen at the same time, but they are both in the episode.

As you may very well know, this week's "Glee" focuses itself exclusively - musically anyway - on Madonna. Yup, it's all Material Girl, all the time. The series has already released to the web Jane Lynch doing 'Vogue,' and if the rest of the episode is done with that same level of cleverness and humor it would be fair to expect this to be a truly outstanding episode. As for us, we would put in a lot of foolish Madonna song references in this description, but it has struck us that the groans that would result from such an action on our part would be rather loud and forceful.

The long, dark winter of our Gleek discontent ends tonight as our favorite bunch of singing weirdos (save Gonzo the Great) return with all-new episodes! It has been a long time since those sectionals way back in December. We fully expect Mr. Schuester and the rest of the gang to have some brand new songs and drama in store for us this evening. It's all so exciting we may just have to burst out into a song. Perhaps we'll do a mash-up of "I'm Going to go Back There Someday" and "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year." Yup, that's the ticket.

Gleeks of the world despair! Tonight marks the fall finale for "Glee." That means that tonight is the last time until, horror of horrors, April 13th, that we'll be getting a new episode of the show. Deep breath. Deep breath. It is going to be okay, together, we'll manage to pull through. It will be tough to not see Schuester, Rachel Berry, and the rest of the Glee Club for months on end, but we can expect them to head into that hiatus with a big episode, a huge episode, the episode of all episodes. We hope.

Did your Gleekdom start to wane last week? Have you been jonesing for more covers of your favorite and not-so-favorite songs? "Glee" is back this week with an all-new episode, an, the moment that some may have guessed might eventually appear will in fact arrive - it's the club's first diva-off!, with Rachel taking on Kurt. Plus, Artie's chances of traveling to the regionals hit a snag.

Two weeks in a row with new episodes of FOX's "Glee"? Talk about an embarrassment of musical riches!
Last week's season premiere drew big numbers in the young adult demos for FOX and this week's episode features a cameo by Josh Groban as himself. Plus, Victor Garber guest stars.
Of the episode, FOX teases, "Will forms the Acafellas, an all-male acapella vocal group, and spends more time building his own confidence than he does with the glee club. In Will's absence, the glee club decides to hire a well-known choreographer to help coach them to Nationals. Meanwhile, Mercedes is bitten by the love bug, but her feelings aren't reciprocated. When the Acafellas perform for the P.T.A., they get a surprise visit backstage from Josh Groban (guest-starring as himself)."

So you've probably already seen the cast of "Glee" performing "Don't Stop Believing" when the show previewed this fall. Who knew that the original "Glee" pilot that aired after "American Idol" in May was just a cutdown of Ryan Murphy's director's cut?
TV critics, actually. We received a longer version of the pilot and apparently an even longer version existed before that.
In any case, one week before "Glee" really kicks off its first season, FOX is reairing the pilot, specifically Ryan Murphy's extended director's cut. So even if you're a Gleek, there may be a couple minutes here or there that you haven't seen.
Meanwhile, FOX is just airing the heck out of that "Glee" pilot this week. Tune in again on Friday and you can see a tweet-peat of the pilot, with cross promotion with Twitter. That's a lot of "Glee."

Created by Ryan "Nip/Tuck" Murphy, "Glee" focuses on a high school teacher (Matthew Morrison), who takes over his school's struggling glee club, assembling a musical team that includes an assortment of misfits and divas, plus the quarterback of the football team (Cory Monteith). Can the singers put aside their differences, break through the high school caste system and make it all the way to Nationals?
The series also stars Amber Reilly, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Lea Michele, Dianna Agron, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jayma Mays and Jane Lynch.
Each episode features an assortment of musical numbers featuring past and present hits.
FOX is giving "Glee" a one-hour preview after "American Idol," but the series won't actually premiere until fall.
