Whether it's to avoid the Super Bowl or just because they don't feel like airing a new episode tomorrow night, there isn't going to be a new "Girls" tomorrow. Rather than mourning that, however, celebrate the fact that there is going to be a new episode tonight. oh yes, entitled "Only Child," the fifth episode of the third season of "Girls" airs tonight. Fun. And, PS, the show will air at the same time tonight as it normally would tomorrow.

Shed a tear, people, "Girls" is ending its season tonight. That is, as you may have surmised, something that makes us sad. It isn't that the things that happen on "Girls" always make us happy (obviously), but we are happy when the show is on. Tune in tonight, for yourself, and see the season finale. See what Lena Dunham, Judd Apatow, and everyone involved on the series have managed to cook up for us, and if you're not sucked into the goings-on. We have a suspicion that you will be.

As you may be aware, the season of "Girls" ends later this month. Although the show is, mainly, a comedy, this is still something sad. No one really wants the "Girls" season to end. Okay, maybe the people who put in tons of hours and a whole lot of effort would like to take a break now and again, but do those folks count? We are talking about you, about the audience, about those who watch week in and week out. Do you want the season to end this month or do you want to see the ordeals which Hannah and her friends have suffer through continue?

There are certain things upon which we can count. First, we will always hate winter. Second, coffee is our savior. Third, "Girls" is funny/compelling/interesting/good stuff. No, really, there are moments we yell at the characters for doing thigns we wouldn't, and moments we laugh at them, and moments we truly understand. We aren't going to say that it's truly and really real, but it is regularly a fascinating show. Tune in tonight, it's the seventh episode of the season, and see what they have going on.

Depending on where in the country you live, you might have looked outside today and noticed a whole lot of upsetting cold -- people wearing big coats and funny hats and, potentially, even shoveling. In fact, most of the country is currently experiencing the depths of winter and, in California, they're suffering through what many around the country refer to as "a slightly mild spring." But tonight, our hearts can all be warmed with comedy as HBO is offering up a new episode of "Girls." This is the fourth episode of the season which means that, after tonight, a third of it is over.

This is just the biggest night of television we can remember for quite some time. You have one of the bigger awards shows on, Showtime is launching many season premieres, and HBO has "True Detective" right before this. And, of course, there is that "this." Tonight, HBO is giving us not one but two episodes of "Girls." That means double the funny, double the worry, double the nitpicking, double the everything. Double the everything. We suggest you get ridiculously excited and drink a whole lot of coffee, your TV is going to be running until late tonight.

Listen, HBO does not want "Girls" to get lost in the (Super Bowl) shuffle. Consequently, you've been able to watch this week's episode of "Girls" early on the HBO To Go app, and they're going to premiere it on TV tonight instead of tomorrow. The show will still air tomorrow night if you want to watch it then, but if you're home today you can totally watch the episode this very evening (at 10:05pm). "Enlightened" is following the same course (and is following "Girls" tonight). Yes, it does mean that you have to be home on a Saturday night and you have to think about how the girls on "Girls" might judge you for that, but still, you can watch it.

Did we highlight "Girls" last week, suggesting that you ought to watch because it was the premiere? Yes, we did, and we're highlighting it again this week because you ought to watch it again even though it's not the premiere. Listen, these cable series have a short season, "Girls" is going to have finished season two before the end of March and then you're going to have to wait an awful long time for the next new episode... and you're going to be sad about that. Don't make the mistake of skipping a new episode when you have a chance to watch one, you'll regret it

As stated in the press release this series 'takes a comic look at the assorted humiliations and rare triumphs of a group of women in their early 20s.' Now, while we may not be a woman, we do understand where that sort of sentiment is coming from. One's 20s, no matter their sex, are really not that easy. You're finishing school (or trying to extend your stay and prevent the real world from encroaching) or your starting your career and looking for a relationship and goodness knows what else and you're finding out that life is hard. Things simply don't come easily to most of us, and that's what this show is about. Watch it, you just may find that you like it.

There is, unquestionably, a certain sadness that strikes one as they look at tonight's schedule -- there may be a couple of premieres, but it feels like there's an awfully large number of finales. As for "Girls," which is airing one of those finales, we want to make sure you're not all that sad. Yes, the fact that it's the finale may be distressing, but the show will definitely be back next year. So, relax, take a deep breath, and just accept whatever awesome this finale has to offer.

Many out there may take umbrage to the title of this series, "Girls." The show focuses on a group of women in their 20s in New York City, but apparently they're going to be known as 'girls.' Please, should you be one of the umbrage-taking individuals, don't write us letters to complain, as much as we would like the ability to title series, we aren't given that opportunity. Yes, we could have written the show title for the event as "Ladies" or "Young Ladies" or something like that, but that wouldn't have reflected the actual name of the show and probably would have confused a whole lot of people.
