Brought to us by the creators of "Big Love," "Getting On" focuses itself on the lives of nurses and doctors who care for the elderly. The season (and presumably tonight) has offered up some pretty good guest stars as well including Molly Shannon, Daniel Stern, and Harry Dean Stanton. Hopefully tonight won't disappoint in that regard. Naturally, with the series focusing on the elderly we have some concerns about the way they pull the curtain in the season finale, but we'll have to all wait and see exactly what takes place.

The lives of doctors and nurses who care for the elderly can't possibly be easy. This series explores just what such folks undergo. Now, of course, it isn't a documentary, but a lot of it certainly feels real. The description of the show describes the individuals as having to "struggle with the darkly comic realities" of their work. That, all by itself, certainly makes the whole thing feel very real as anyone who has ever dealt with the healthcare system would surely attest.

HBO is offering up a night of premieres tonight and, sadly, this is the last one for today. "Getting On" is all about doctors and nurses who care for the elderly. It is funny and serious and heartbreaking and heartwarming. The series stars Laurie Metcalf, Alex Borstein, Niecy Nash, and Mel Rodriguez. As of this moment, the six episode run is scheduled to end mid-December.
