If we were to retitle this series based on the ratings, it would probably be something like "Fashion Semi-Dim Bulb," but that's a skosh cruel and not entirely what we're here for (but maybe a little). That is kind of an advantage though -- the point of the series is that the things that get designed are made available for purchase at some department stores. So if you watch and like something you can go out and buy it in confidence that very few folks will know that it was designed for a TV show. The second season ends tonight, see who takes home the prize.

Louise Roe is stepping in as the host for the second season of "Fashion Star" in place of Elle Macpherson. As for the mentors this season, they will be the same as they were in the initial outing -- Jessica Simpson, John Varvatos, and Nicole Richie. But, to take a step back, the show is for fashion designers and offers up a clothing line that will appear in stores like Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Express. And, to take yet another step back, this is reality show which airs on NBC. We would take a third step back but we're afraid that it would grow moderately offensive as we explained television as a whole.

So, the season started with 14 people trying to prove that they really had what it takes to become a fashion star. Tonight, after weeks of pain, torture, and some triumph too, a winner will be declared. Tonight, dear friends, is the season finale of "Fashion Star" and with all season finales for competition series, that means that there is going to be a winner and at least one loser. As per usual, we've picked our favorites and we've picked those who we think we will succeed (not always the same thing). We'll tell you tomorrow if we were right.
