  We have a mantra.  We don't know if our mantra is in fact true, but we have it.  It goes something like this -- parents have the best interests of their children at heart.  You then say it over and over and over again.  Once you've done that about a hundred times, you're ready to watch "Dance Moms."  You'll have to repeat the mantra during the show and your belief in it may be tested, but it might make it easier to watch these stage mothers and Abby Lee Miller.  Maybe this season "Dance Moms" will find its Honey Boo Boo.  You're not going to want to miss that.

  Prior to tonight's season premiere, we're getting a "Dance Moms" 'Catch Up Special.'  Now, we don't want to ruin anything for anyone, nor do we want to be overly reductive, but there are some moms out there who take their child's dancing far more seriously than the child does and far more seriously than is good for anyone involved.  Please don't assume that we mean every parent on the show fits this mold... but you should definitely carve some time out of your schedule, watch, and see if that's the case (you can thank us later).

  If there is one thing for which we find ourselves clamoring after every episode of "Dance Moms" it's an extra 30 minutes on insanity.  Tonight, with the second season finale, our prayers (or clamors) have been answered.  The season ends tonight with an extra-long 90 minute episode.  As you well know, what that means for all of us in the audience (and we will be in the audience) is 30 more minutes of stage mom helicoptering.  May the sequins be brighter, the toe-tapping more precise, and the fights cattier on tonight's finale.

  And, after the finale, "Dance Moms:  Miami" begins.
