Do you think that for season two of "Cougar Town," as the characters will be slightly older there will be a new subtitle to it, something like "Cougar Town: Even Cougarier" or perhaps "Cougar Town: Now with Extra Cougar?" No, we didn't think so either. We are still overjoyed however that this won't be our last chance to see a new episode of "Cougar Town." The show will be back in the fall, so this is just our last chance of seeing a new season one episode. That is sad, just not as sad as it might be.

We don't mind telling you, we love "Cougar Town." We sit down and watch it with a huge bottle of scotch. Okay, sure, they say to watch it with a nice bottle of wine (seriously, they do), but we're scotch people and so that's what we use. You will be happy to note that we don't use a big Carl size glass or anything like that, just a larger than normal sized one. But, our drinking really isn't at issue here, what's at issue is that this is the last episode for the cul-de-sac crew unless a season six gets ordered and, well, we just don't know if that'll happen.

We have, we think, seen every episode of "Cougar Town" to this point, but we're getting old and our memory simply isn't what it used to be. Have they talked about "Pirate's Cove" on the show before? We don't recall it ever coming up, but it's possible that it has (our issue is not just age but also lots of red wine). In any case, tonight's episode is called "The Trip to Pirate's Cove," which we assume will mean that they go to a place called "Pirate's Cove." That is, it will unless that expression is wholly euphemistic in which case they still might but we shouldn't be talking about it.

What is it, exactly, that we all love so about "Cougar Town," what is it that makes the series so enjoyable to watch? Is it watching a group of friends experience life? Is it seeing family relationships grow and change? Is it the wine they drink? Is it the wine we drink while watching them drink? It is, undoubtedly, an amalgam of all these factors, all these elements, and that is why we tell you in no uncertain terms that the fifth season of "Cougar Town" starts tonight and you should tune in.

We are sad. We love "Cougar Town," but after tonight it's going away for a while. Yes, there will be a fifth season with 15 new episodes at some point (we presume next year), but that means going an awfully long time without new stories of the cul de sac crew. And, we don't know if you feel like the title card jokes have gotten old, but we don't. In fact, we're hoping for an episode that has three or four or five different title card jokes. Could that be tonight? We are certainly due for two jokes tonight as we're getting two new episodes, but that's not quite as many as we're hoping for.

Can we tell you just how happy we are that "Cougar Town" got picked up by TBS? We are ecstatic. We are thrilled. We are pouring ourselves a big old glass of red wine and watching it every week. Okay, it's true, one of the reasons that we love the show being back is because it means we don't have to drink alone. It does count as drinking with someone else if they're not actually in your house but only on TV, right? Please tell us it does. Would it help our cause if we told you that we have named our wine glass Enrique? That kind of makes him like a person too, right?

Say it with us now, just one time... 'Penny Can.' That's right, folks, the magic of "Cougar Town" is returning. Do you honestly care whether it's on ABC or TBS? Isn't the only thing that actually matters here the fact that "Cougar Town" is back on? We are getting a 15 episode fourth season, and we can't tell you how excited we are for it to begin (and, judging by your bouncing around in your seat, you're excited, too). Tune in tonight at 10pm eastern... and every Tuesday night for weeks on end, as Jules, Grayson, Laurie, Bobby, Ellie, Andy, and Travis get their wine, Penny Can, and more wine on.

We don't care what it's long term fate may be (the show is going to TBS), we love "Cougar Town" and you can bet your sweet bippy that we'll be watching these two season ending episodes tonight. In fact, to show our love and appreciation of the series, we're going to bust out our own version of Carl (RIP Carl) and drain it dry two or three times during the show (we don't have a wine glass that big, so our Carl is one of those huge Gatorade jugs that gets dumped on coaches after they win the big game). Between these two episodes, our Carl, and a nice game of Penny Can, our night is set.

We love ourselves some "Cougar Town." We just do and if you watch it, we think you probably will as well. You know who we haven't seen so far this season however? Barb. We haven't seen Barb. That all changes tonight though as Barb finally shows her face. Exciting, right? Well, what if we upped the ante and said Barry Bostwick was going to be on again as well? Guess what, people? Barry Bostwick is going to be be back on as well. How's that for a must watch?

Listen, if you want to get married, you have to make some sacrifices -- even in the best of relationships, you can't always get what you want. As much as we love Jules on "Cougar Town," sacrificing really isn't her style. Can she and Grayson work it all out then as they have to try to join their finances prior to marriage tonight? Well, yes, probably they can, but we look forward to the teeth-gnashing, name-calling, and finger-pointing that will assuredly ensue prior to the final credits.

As we all know, Bill Lawrence was the man behind "Scrubs," and now he's the man behind "Cougar Town." The two shows actually from time to time exhibit the same sort of vibe. We imagine that tonight will be one of those times as this week's guest stars include "Scrubs" alums Sarah Chalke, Sam Lloyd, Robert Clendenin, Ken Jenkins, and Robert Maschio (yes, some of them have been on before). That's right, people, Robert Maschio. The Todd is going to be on "Cougar Town." We don't think he's playing The Todd, but he's always going to be The Todd to us.

The winter of our discontent is over, made glorious summer by the triumphant return of "Cougar Town" to the ABC schedule. Listen, we aren't going to say anything about the other two series which ABC put into this 8:30 timeslot before agreeing to give it to our beloved "Cougar Town," but they have now given it to our beloved "Cougar Town," and that makes us happy. It makes us want to bust out our biggest wine glass and our brightest pennies and play a game of Penny Can while getting truly shnockered with the cul-de-sac crew.
May 25, 2011TV Network - ABC
It still feels like something of a short season for "Cougar Town" despite their airing episodes 21 & 22 tonight due to that extra long disappearance they took from our television set this winter. And, truth be told, we're going to miss TheLarmy this summer as much as we missed Penny Can in the winter (don't even suggest that there will be no Penny Can in the summer, we're not sure we could take that sort of thing). At least the season is ending with back-to-back episodes though to help push us through.

You probably thought that the two-second appearance by Lou Diamond Phillips the other week on "Cougar Town" was all that we were going to get. Oh how wrong you were. LDP (as we like to call him) is going to be back on the show this week and he's going to be helping Laurie and Bobby with some sort of business venture (and here you thought it was going to be to buy some jewelry... boy that's two mistakes you've made). Barry Bostwick will also be returning to the series this week but he still won't be playing Brad Majors.
May 11, 2011TV Network - ABC
Nia Vardalos, the women who brought us "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," is going to be appearing on "Cougar Town" tonight. Vardalos will be playing Andy's sister-in-law and, we're told, said sister-in-law is something of a flirt. For whatever reason our immediate thought there travels to the question of whether or not Andy would take his sister to a club. On the one hand, Andy likes dancing and it's a good place for flirting, but surely that would make Andy uncomfortable, wouldn't it? Plus, you can't play Penny Can at a club... can you?

Say it with us one time - 'Penny Can!' "Cougar Town" is back starting tonight! Okay, yes, this is a Monday night and "Cougar Town"'s reguarly scheduled time is on Wednesday nights, but we promise you, it's back tonight anyway. This is the first new episode in over two months and is the first of two new episodes we'll be getting this week (the other is in the show's regularly scheduled Wednesday night slot). Expect plenty of laughs from the cul-de-sac crew and, with any luck, a round of the game frenzy that's sweeping the nation - Penny Can.

If you've been watching "Cougar Town" (and you should be watching "Cougar Town"), you're well aware that Jules is something of a relationship freak and that her boyfriend Grayson ain't so comfortable dealing with his feelings and emotions and all that other touchy-feely stuff. Well, that's just the sort of thing that ought to make for an absolutely fantastic Valentine's Day sitcom episode. Sure, V-Day is still two weeks away in reality, but it's here tonight on "Cougar Town" and should help get you in the mood for when it actually arrives.

Have you ever wondered what kind of person could have fathered raised Jules?  We have and this week we're going to get an answer, an answer that at the very least begins 'someone who looks an awful lot like Dr. Kelso from "Scrubs."'  Now, that's the start of the answer because Jules' dad is being played by Ken Jenkins who played Dr. Kelso on "Scrubs."  So, we now know what he looks like, but we still don't quite know what he's all about.  To answer that we'll all just have to tune in and watch the episode.

There was much discussion over the summer about whether or not "Cougar Town" would - or should - change its name. Whether or not it should have, it didn't, but that lack of a name change doesn't make the show less funny, nor does it in any way mean that you ought not sit down, watch, and yuck it up. May we humbly suggest that you sit back with a few jugs of wine (one for each of your guests) and laugh as long and loud as you can for the next 30 minutes... then, play penny can.

Beverly D'Angelo, as we learned in the "Vacation" movies, isn't the greatest of parents. That would, most likely, explain exactly how Laurie (Busy Philipps) ended up the way she's ended up. Sheila (D'Angelo), has been something of an absent parent in Laurie's life. We're not exactly sure why that would make Laurie have an obsessive need to seek out the attention of men of all shapes and sizes - we're not Sigmund Freud - but certainly believe Sheila to be part of the problem, not the solution. Watch for yourself, see if we're wrong.

To many fans of ABC, Barry Bostwick will forever be known as 'the guy who played the Mayor on that show that first starred Michael J. Fox and then Charlie Sheen.' To us, Barry Bostwick will always be 'Brad Majors - A Hero.' Bostwick has had many great roles and performances throughout his career, but dammit, Janet, there's just something about Brad Majors (and has been ever since we met in that science exam-it). Bostwick's appearance in "Cougar Town" this evening probably has nothing at all to do with Brad Majors, especially as he's playing Smith's dad, but we can dream it (even if we can't be it).

Could we be any more excited for this episode? Okay, that's a Chandler-ism, but it doesn't change the fact that Phoebe Buffay and Monica Geller are getting back together tonight on "Cougar Town." Oh, they may pretend that their names here aren't Monica and Phoebe, but I think we know better than that, don't we? Perhaps Phoebe could actually be Ursula (we always did have trouble telling them apart), but we don't think so. In any case, tonight, Phoebe is playing a dermatologist who is seeing Monica's ex-husband (Bobby, not Chandler). We don't imagine Monica will be pleased.

This new comedy, starring Courteney Cox, follows Jules as she makes her way through the dating world as a divorcee in her 40s. She strives not to become an over-tanned, under-dressed older woman on the prowl for younger men. Of course, that changes when she meets a nice young man named Bobby. Naturally.
