TV Network - NBCMan, higher education can be hard. There's all that hitting on members of the opposite sex, creating and destroying study groups, making fun of the old guy... the list goes on and on. There is even, on occasion, some funny to be had with higher education. We're not actually guaranteeing that funny will exist in tonight's season finale of "Community," but we do believe that there's a better than average chance for it. Perhaps the odds for laughter are greater than one standard deviation away from the mean, but we have to double check our math to make sure.

You have read about the changes the series underwent prior to this season. You have, potentially, even commented on articles about the changes "Community" underwent prior to this season. What you haven't done though is see the entire season and we know this because the final episode of the season airs tonight. Perhaps your opinions, as well founded as they were at the time, will have changed now that the full scope of the season is laid bare. Perhaps not, but the only way to know is by watching the finale and seeing how it meshes (or doesn't) with your previous assertions.

Okay, so where are we on the whole "Community" thing right now? Do we like where the series is under its new showrunner? Are we upset about it all? However you may feel about things, we certainly hope that you're still watching. "Community" is giving us an abbreviated 13 episode season this year, and tonight is episode 11. There are but two weeks until the season finale arrives and, however you feel about the show, you can't be happy about the (season's) end being nigh. Tune in tonight.

Okay, "Community" may not quite be the show that we all remember it being under its previous incarnation, but we are still pretty sure that you should be watching it nonetheless (or maybe it's just as good, you be the judge). Would you really be happy if "Community" disappeared from the airwaves forever? No, we didn't think you would. Consequently, when we tell you there's a new episode of "Community" tonight, we truly expect you to tune in for it. We don't know what sort of wackiness Abed and Troy will have for us tonight, but if we know Abed and Troy there will be wackiness. Therefore we tell you, and not for the first time, tune in for "Community" tonight, you'll be happy you did.

In our flyover description, we referred to this as the new 'season' of the comedy series and while that's technically true, perhaps we should refer to it as the new 'semester.' You know, what with this being a comedy centered on a community college and all the word 'semester' may more sense than 'season.' The series we all know and love may look and feel somewhat different this year as creator and showrunner Dan Harmon will no longer be the man in charge. Tune in and see how (or if) the show is different.

Community: The Complete Third Season - DVD

Greendale Community College's most learning-challenged study group returns for the most brilliantly hilarious year yet! What with campus-wide pillow fights, spooky Halloween pizza parties, holiday Glee Club smackdowns, foosball showdowns, cafeteria sandwich throwdowns, crime show send-ups, underage security patrols, a beloved classmate's demise that sets off a riot, plus a new Vice Dean (Emmy winner John Goodman) with a strange air conditioning fixation... It's clear these people need each other, never more than now.

When Andre re-proposes to Shirley, the study group begins wedding preparations; Annie and Britta start the busy task of planning the wedding, Jeff must prepare to give a speech, and Troy and Abed get ready to act "normal" for the special occasion.

Tonight, "Community" finishes season three with three brand new episodes. That means that you can expect three times the humor, three times the weird, and potentially nine times the outlandish (with think that the outlandish runs on a Log scale). We can't promise you that there will be six seasons and a movie of "Community," but we can promise these three episodes tonight. NBC is going to air the first episode tonight at 8, and then the second and third back-to-back starting at 9.

Listen, you know it and we know it -- this is not John Goodman's first appearance on "Community," it isn't even his second or his third. What it is though is yet another great excuse for you to watch this show which you should probably be watching anyway. Why aren't you watching "Community" by the way? We think that, much as there is something we can all learn at community college, there is something we can all learn from watching this show about a community college (ie, how to laugh). May Goodman's return appearance convince many ore to give the show a chance.

The people out there who have sat down and watched "Community" on a regular basis will happily tell you just how funny a series it is. They will (and have) waxed eloquent about the show's intelligence and sense of humor. After hearing such arguments over and over again, don't you think that it's worthwhile to spend 30 minutes of your time (closer to 23 if you have a DVR) to watch the show and see if maybe, just maybe, everyone who has told you just how funny "Community" is happen to be right? Come on now, throw them a bone.

Is Luis Guzman a funny man? Is "Community" a funny television series? It is just possible that by answering one of these questions you will answer the other. We aren't going to give you any hints about answering which will answer the other, but we're quite convinced that it is possible that to get the one from the other. Now, as for who Guzman is playing tonight, he'll be a celebrity and a Greendale alum. Will Guzman be Guzman? We would actually like to see that, but aren't convinced that he'll be some version of himself. Although, it would be funny.

So, on tonight's episode Britta kind of runs some psych tests on the folks in the group and learns that one of them may be disturbed. Now, we've watched the show, so we know that they're all disturbed and beyond that, do you really want to learn about that sort of thing right before Halloween, because that's when all the spooky stuff comes out and the deeply disturbed become the well and truly deeply disturbed and go on killing sprees. At least, that's what happens in our dreams. Every night. We have that dream every night. It's kind of scary and troublesome.

We went to college (and graduate school) and we have to tell you, our experience was nowhere near as funny as what happens on this show. In fact, quite frankly, watching this show and seeing exactly how funny college can be makes us a little sad. When we spent time in the library studying there were no fun study groups, no laughter, no merriment, no mirth. No, we just sat there, kept our heads down, and studied (all the while trying to ignore the two people in the corner and what they were doing). The longer "Community" runs, the more we get past our upset, but the wounds are still kind of raw.

A college. We remember being there back in the day as the summer turned warm. It was both an incredibly happy and an incredibly sad time Warm weather brought around relaxing and good times, but it also brought around the end of the year and who wants to leave college and return to real life? We wonder whether people who return to college at a later time feel the same way. Probably they do, especially the goofballs (which we mean in a good way) on this show. How could they possibly want these good times to end?

Beloved by millions (or at least 20 people) for his portrayal of 'Needle-Nose' Ned Ryerson in "Groundhog Day," Stephen Tobolowsky is going to be bringing his special brand of comedy to NBC's "Community" tonight. Also present, though presumably not brought by Tobolowsky, will be Michelle Krusiec as a possible romantic entaglement for one of our "Community" regulars. So, you've got two good guest stars tonight. You've also got a bunch of "Who's the Boss?" stuff going on as well, but we don't want to give away too much.

Everyone knows where they've seen Malcolm Jamal Warner before, but do you know where you've seen Enver Gjokaj? He played Victor on "Dollhouse." He's going to be on "Community" tonight as Lukka, a potential love interest for one of our "Community" regulars. We don't want to give too much away, but we will tell you that it isn't Joel McHale's character. That could have been a fun little change to the show, but not one that they've opted to go with this time out. Next time maybe, but not this time. As for Malcolm Jamal Warner, he's still playing the same character he did last time.

Andy Dick is returning to doing another episode of "Community" this week as is "The Daily Show"'s John Oliver. Both men have, of course, been on before (that is what the 'returning' bit of the previous sentence indicates), but that in no way means that their appearance this time is any less special. In fact, it may be that the whole thing is far more enjoyable as their characters have already been established and the show need not waste time introducing us to them, opting to jump straight into the funny instead.

Gee, we can't think of any time in the past when any live-action television show has done a stop-motion animation episode. Can you possibly recall such a thing occurring? It seems just oh-so-far-fetched of an idea doesn't it? Okay, it doesn't, but what if we altered the above to say that it's a primetime live-action show doing a stop-motion animation episode? You'd have a little more trouble coming up with an example then, wouldn't you? We don't want to spoil for you the whys and wherefores of the show going stop-motion tonight, let it just be enough that it is. Kay? Kay.

Now, when we say that Hilary Duff is visiting the gang, we don't actually mean that Hilary Duff is playing Hilary Duff, she's not. What we mean is that Hilary Duff will be on the series this week and consequently Duff visited the set where "Community" is shot. Who will she be? Well, our understanding is that she'll be a student, and not just any student, but rather a 'mean girl.' What ever happened to that sweet child who was on that Disney series. We don't know what Disney series exactly, but we're sure Duff was on one of them and as she was the star we're also sure she was sweet.

Let us ask you this - do you care exactly why Drew Carey and Rob Corddry are on "Community" tonight or do you only care that Drew Carey and Rob Corddry are on? We could spend a lot of time discussing how they play people at the law firm Jeff used to work at and how Jeff bumps into Corddry's character and gets sucked back in only to have the rest of the group try to rescue him, but do you care? Do you really feel as though you need to know the intricacies of the plot or would you rather see it simply open - like a flower in bloom - before you? We tend to think the latter and consequently we'll say nothing other than mentioning the appearance of the guest stars.

For several years now we have been afflicted with a dreaded disease. It is a disease which swells within our chest and makes us swoon. It is a disease with no known cure. Yes, it's true, all these years later we still have McPheever. We don't imagine that watching McPhee on tonight's episode of "Community" will cure our McPheever, but perhaps it will provide a momentary respite. McPhee will apparently be playing Chevy Chase's stepdaughter, but the excuse they use for putting her on the show is far less important than the fact that she's appearing.

One of the best reviewed new shows of the season, NBC's "Community" moves to its new 8 p.m. time period with "The Office" going an hour this week and "30 Rock" returning next week.
Of the episode, titled "Social Psychology," NBC teases: "Jeff (Joel McHale) and Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) bond by gossiping about Britta's (Gillian Jacobs) new boyfriend. When Jeff tries to stop and be a good friend to Britta, he discovers that gossip is a difficult monster to escape. Meanwhile, Annie (Alison Brie) joins Professor Duncan's (guest star John Oliver) psychology research team and recruits Troy (Donald Glover) and Abed (Danny Pudi) as test subjects."
