Bet on Your Baby

All good things come to an end. We have talked about that before, but it seems appropriate to say it again today as the second season of "Bet on Your Baby" is coming to a close. Is it, perhaps, a little wrong to place a wager on what your child might do in a specific situation? We don't think so, especially when there is no imminent danger. It isn't like they've placed a cookie jar high up on a bookshelf and are asking if the child will get the cookie or fall. That would be wrong. This isn't that.

Raising more than one child we can tell you the following with a insane level of certainty -- children are both incredibly predictable and highly erratic. Those may seem like opposites, but they're not. "Bet on Your Baby," hosted by Melissa Peterman, asks parents to try to predict their child's next move and, as we said, children are both incredibly predictable and highly erratic. The question is which will the given child be in a specific situation. It's a fun game.

There is something that is inherently genius about this show. The notion that they have filmed children and then ask parents what the baby (really toddler) is going to do next is outstanding. Not to toot our own horn, but we would be absolutely legendary on this show. That is probably why we're not a contestant, it simply wouldn't be fair to anyone else on the show; not people on the show that night and not people on the show ever again. No one in the future would be able to hold a candle to the answers we'd give, it would be outstanding.
