Last season we were re-introduced to Norman Bates, in this new spin on the classic tale of a boy who loves his mother in ways that are a dangerous for himself and all of those around him. Tonight, that tale returns and we will, presumably, see poor little Norman progress down the rabbit hole towards madness, upset, and general devilry. We won't hit the famed "Psycho" moment by the end of the season, but we will draw ever more near.

Tonight's episode of "Bates Motel" is the final one of the season. We don't think it will end with Norman's mother dying and him pickling her so that he might, you know, go psycho later in life, but it could happen. Actually, we think it would be kind of cool if he did. Then, when they return for season three, she could appear as a ghost and urge Norman to kill (and to dress up like her). That might be a season nine sort of event though. We'll just have to see.

Norman Bates will return and we don't just mean that in the sense that this is sort of like a precursor to the movie, "Psycho." Yes, that is, obviously, true, but what we are actually trying to say is that "Bates Motel" itself is going to be on again next year with an all-new season of Norman and Norma goodness (tonight is the first season finale). We are hoping that said new season features a crossover episode with NBC's "Hannibal," as quite clearly Norman and Hannibal have a lot that they could teach one another but, sadly, that does seem vaguely unlikely.
