"America's Most Wanted," after airing weekly on FOX for years, was changed to a quarterly event this year (it was also picked up to run regularly on Lifetime).  Tonight we're getting the fourth quarterly FOX special.  Thus far we've gotten a '50 States, 50 Fugitives' special, one on US Marshalls, and one on crimes of passion.  What will the theme of this fourth special be?  Might we suggest evil birthday party clowns?  It worked really well on "Modern Family," why not on "AMW" too?

John Walsh is on a mission, it's a mission that he's been on for decades now, and it's not a mission which will be ending any time soon.  The mission is simple to understand and yet impossible to fully accomplish -- John Walsh wants to put America's Most Wanted in jail.  Now, Walsh and company have put a whole lot of criminals behind bars through the years, but as soon as they get one of America's Most Wanted in jail, another one pops up.  This is one of those cases then where it is the journey and not the destination that is more important.  Watch and see what Walsh has in store for us tonight.

As you are, possibly, maybe, perhaps, aware, "America's Most Wanted" has been resurrected by Lifetime, but that doesn't mean that these FOX quarterly specials we're getting during this season are ending.  In fact, the second of the two hour specials airs tonight and it's a US Marshals 'special edition.'  That means that they'll be searching for every doghouse, outhouse, yada, yada, until they catch their man, who, of course, didn't do it (it was the one armed man).

As we have told you before, "America's Most Wanted" is no longer a weekly television series.  Instead, John Walsh and company are doing two-hour quarterly specials this year.  Tonight is the first of those specials, and while we don't think that he'll be doing anything quite as over-the-top as breaking open Al Capone's vaults, we do imagine that he'll have a few special surprises up his sleeves for us (even if it's just a little bit of extra-seriousness conveyed through his voice and brooding eyes).

This may very well mark the last real and true season finale "America's Most Wanted" ever has.  The show will be returning during the next television season, but will only be doing so as a series of specials, not a regular weekly event.  We assume that means that most of the bad guys in the world have been successfully captured by John Walsh, his diligent phone bank workers, and you.  So, kudos to you for making the world a brighter place, you're watching of this show has made it possible for it to no longer be needed as a regular series (or something like that).

    TV Network - FOX

Tonight, John Walsh embarks on the 24th season of "America's Most Wanted."  Well, that's not entirely fair, is it?  We are quite sure that the man has prepared for this moment for months on end.  Surely he's researched and discussed with producers and contemplated what he'll say and studied the cases, criminals, and victims who will appear on the show this evening.  That had to have taken a lot of time.  This then is just the moment when it all comes together, but that doesn't really make it any less special, does it?  This really is still a pretty big moment (not as big as next year's premiere, but pretty big).

If it feels like "America's Most Wanted" has been on the air forever, that's probably because it's been nearly that long.  John Walsh and his band of crime solvers (including you, if you've ever called in a tip) have solved something in the neighborhood of a bazillion cases, which is to say that they've done a lot of good.  They show no particular signs of slowing down, and tonight they hit the magic 1,000th episode, which is a pretty impressive number for a show that only airs once a week.  To celebrate, we're going to get a very special episode.  We don't know quite what about it will be special, but we're intrigued nonetheless.
