Tonight's second season finale finds the nice Los Angeles, undercover, black-opsy, cool-beansy, branch of the NCIS tracking down one of their own to find out just why she resigned. In our minds that's always a thorny issue. Imagine you're searching for your missing compatriot, maybe the person resigned because they don't like you personally and you're going after them is going to do nothing so much as to convince you that they need to kill you (NCIS being full of people trained in the lethal arts). Bet you'd feel pretty stupid then for tracking them down.

That's right, you read that abstract right, Jonathan Frakes is going to be on "NCIS: Los Angeles" this week (unless we've made some sort of massive mistake, but he's totally in the listing for the episode, we promise you that). Don't even start with a 'who is Jonathan Frakes' thing. He's Will Riker, Commander (later Captain, maybe even Admiral depending on how the future actually played out), Will Riker of "Star Trek: The Next Generation." It's kind of fitting that he's on a spinoff here as his own series was a spinoff back in the day. Good old Will Riker, we miss him and Picard and the rest of the crew. Maybe they'll all come back eventually. For now though, we'll just watch and remember the good times. He also directs the episode (which is kind of his thing now).

Before you become too distraught to continue, we'd like to point out one massively important fact - this show has already been renewed for a second season. That's right, while tonight is definitely the last new episode you'll see for several months, there will be more new episodes at some point (we're figuring September). Please, take a deep breath, hold it, and then let it out slowly. G, Sam, Hetty, and/or anyone who lives through the finale will return in the Fall (if they signed on for a second season, of course).

If you ask us, the folks over the Los Angeles branch of NCIS have been having it all too easy this season. There's been gunplay and some fisticuffs, but for the most part, they've gotten off pretty easily. This week however sees Hanna forced to go undercover at an MMA gym and the episode will even be featuring MMA fighters like Frank Shamrock, Dan Henderson, Gilbert Melendez, Josh Thomson, KJ Noons, and Cung Lee. We can't wait to see if Hanna goes toe-to-toe with those guys, but we do kind of wish Gina 'Conviction' Carano was going to be there too. She's our favorite.
