And you thought evil Wil Wheaton from "The Big Bang Theory" was a bad dude, wait till you see what he's got in store for us on "Eureka." Technically speaking, all we know is that Wheaton is playing the head of the Non-Lethal Weapons Lab at Global Dynamics, but honestly, what at that place is non-lethal? Moreover, what scientist that appears in one episode isn't a bad guy on that show? Okay, maybe they'll make an exception for Wheaton and won't force him to go bad until his recurrence, but are you willing to take that chance and not watch this episode? That sounds unwise.

We don't know that anyone will die tonight on the series finale of "Eureka," but what we do know is that there's absolutely no more cheating death on the series after tonight (that's because there is no more series after tonight). We remember how the show started all those years ago, what with Nero Wolfe (or the actor who played him) being the sheriff in town and leaving and Carter taking over. It seems like such a long time ago and the series has changed so much since that time. Maybe Wolfe will return tonight and take back his job. Maybe the whole town will blow up. Maybe... oh who knows, on this series just about anything could happen.

Sheriff Jack Carter and his friends must figure out a way to escape to safety after they are mysteriously transported into a treacherous military installation, and the solution they come up with could have grave consequences for everyone involved.

A new experiment in Eureka begins to malfunction, cutting the town off from the rest of the world and threatening to destroy all of its citizens unless Carter can figure out who sabotaged the experiment and stop them before it is too late.

Tonight, Syfy is offering up episode 12 of the 14 episode final season ever of "Eureka." It makes us sad. Well, it makes us happy that there's a new episode, but it makes us sad that we're getting closer and closer and closer to the last new episode we'll ever get. Oh sure, we could hope for one of those TV movies down the line, but we just don't see it happening. Sigh. Soak up all the "Eureka" goodness while you can, there isn't much left.

As you may recall, the fourth season of "Eureka" ended with the start of this major intergalactic adventure thing. Tonight's episode, we have to assume, will continue that storyline (which, in fact, ran for much of last season even if the adventure itself didn't begin until the season finale). Expect guest stars like Wil Wheaton and Felicia Day to make appearances this season and, hopefully, for things to get wrapped up with a beautiful bow... or at least for them to give us another new cliffhanger on which to end it all.

In the not too distant future, "Eureka" will begin its final season. That has been ordained. Today, however, is not the time to consider such sad facts, today is, instead, a time to celebrate the holidays. The town of Eureka will, just as they did last year, give us a peek into some swell (and potentially dangerous) holiday festivities. What exactly that will mean? Well, it will mean claymation and animation. Didn't you see the picture for the episode? How could that not entice you? It does entice you. Admit it, you've been enticed.

If there is one thing that we have learned about "Eureka" it's that the bad guy is always the scientist that you see in passing for about 10 seconds early in the episode. We hope that doesn't spoil stuff for you, but it's just the way it is. Oh sure, the series has tossed in a curve ball or two, especially with whole alternate reality setting that the start of this season featured. No, that's not a typo, this is the back half of season four, the front half of which started last year with the alternate reality stuff.

Something tells us that a Eureka Christmas is slightly different than any other town's Christmas. Can you imagine what the super-geeks cook up on a yearly basis for the holiday? What sorts of lights do you think Fargo puts up on his house? You probably can't see the stars for miles around due to the light pollution. Of course, as we all know, things will go horribly wrong some of the the Eureka festivities. What do you think it will be? Evil cyborg Rudolph? Someone's homemade fruit cake turning into a black hole of death? Power plant meltdown due to electricity consumption? Fun!

This season of "Eureka" has focused quite heavily on a storyline which revolves around many of the characters ending up in an alternate version of the world. Has it felt a little gimmicky? Perhaps, but that doesn't mean that the storyline will end tonight. This is, after all, just the summer season finale, not the actual season finale. It could end tonight, they may have something entirely different planned for the back half of the season, we just wouldn't bet on it. Or, we would, but not at even odds, we'd require some sort of weighted formula.

There is something truly endearing about "Eureka," the show with the guy from the U.S. version of "Coupling," that centers itself on the truly mad scientists in a hidden town that isn't really all that hidden because everyone knows about it. We're not quite sure why we love it so much, the various weirdos on the series have repeatedly nearly caused the destruction of our planet, and, we think, our entire universe on more than one occasion. And yet, it remains enjoyable and we keep tuning in... could we be secretly hoping that eventually they get the destruction right?
