Have you noticed a trend over the past few weeks where shows have started to truly delve into politics, and not just the news-based talk shows, actual scripted series are doing it as well. Tonight on "Medium," Carlos Gomez is guest starring as a city councilman who may or may not decide to run for mayor. Seriously? Have candidates pretending to be coy about their plans become such a thing that it's going to be happening with guest stars on "Medium?" It's not that we're not interested, it's just that we find it odd.

People, this is it, this is the last new episode of "Medium" ever (unless they decide to do some sort of made-for at a later date). The show has been going for seven seasons and tonight's episode is number 130. Rather than lamenting the fact that the show won't be continuing, we encourage you to be happy that the series did get a short reprieve on CBS following its cancellation on NBC. Don't be sad that there isn't more coming, be happy that maybe Allison will stop having visions and maybe get some peace. Farewell "Medium," you'll be missed.

It hasn't truly been all that long since Joe's mother has been on "Medium" (our internal clock tells us that it was sometime this past March), but we're still excited that she's back. Why? Because she reminds us of the show "Picket Fences" and we liked the show "Picket Fences" what with the picket fences people had and the guy from the worst of the "Poltergeist" movies who was on it too. Sure that guy has done a lot of other things but we remember him most from "Poltergeist III," which, if you think about it has a lot to do with "Medium." Go Kathy Baker!

Do you think it can be easy having visions? We don't think it is, and we're actually pretty amazed at how well Patricia Arquette's character has held up over the years. Were it us, we think we would have ended up in the loony bin well before we ever could have made the switch from NBC to CBS. Obviously Allison has had her difficulties, and those difficulties are sure to continue tonight in the season finale, but we congratulate her on not completely, totally, and permanently losing all her marbles.

As none-too-regular viewers of "That '70s Show" we don't mind saying that Laura Prepon always scared us a little. Yes, Jackie was always the one who acted angry, but there was something in Donna's stare that slightly unnerved us - it was as though she was sizing us up for a mid-afternoon snack. We therefore can't say we're hugely surprised to see that Prepon will be playing a self-defense instructor on "Medium" - there's just something about her that makes us think she wants to cause us pain. But, you know us, we kind of like that.

On tonight's episode of "Medium," Allison sees the face of Diedrich Bader on tons of people. Bader is going by the name of Fred Rovick in the episode, but maintains his own face for the role. We are not entirely sure that if we had to see someone's face everywhere we looked we'd choose for it to be Bader's, but on the other hand, Bader has made us laugh repeatedly through the years, so if we were feeling blue he might not be a bad guy to see everywhere. And yet somehow we feel as though Allison will disagree with our assessment. Interesting.

David Arquette finds himself behind the camera this week, directing his sister, Patricia, as Allison finds herself scared that Ariel's (Sofia Vassilieva) boyfriend is a murderer. Arquette has directed Arquette twice on "Medium" to this point, but it's always interesting to see how the well-known actor (and director) will put his own personal spin on the series. Plus, you just have to wonder if when Allison glares at something off camera, it's actually Patricia scowling at David.

The series makes the switch from NBC to CBS but maintains its premise. "Medium" stars Patricia Arquette as Alison DuBois, who can talk to dead people, see the future in her dreams, and read people's thoughts.

It's series finale time for "Medium," at least as far as NBC is concerned.
Patricia Arquette's paranormal drama will migrate to CBS Friday night this fall.
The show's Emmy-winning NBC run ends with an episode titled "Bring Me the Head of Oswaldo Castillo" and it finds Allison dreaming of the death of her entire family.

There's lame-duck programming and then there's the double-lame-duck programming that is "Medium."
Not only is NBC airing new episodes of "Medium" even though the season is over, NBC is airing new episodes of "Medium" even though the show has already been cancelled and picked up by CBS. That's some funny stuff.
In the episode, titled "The Talented Mrs. Boddicker," Allison meets a bankteller who predicted a robbery. Sounds suspect to us.
