There are certain things which we would imagine being quite hard.  Cliff diving seems tough.  Swimming the the English Channel is probably beyond our capabilities.  Flying an airplane is one of those things we couldn't handle.  The truth is though that we don't imagine we'd be very good as an army wife either.  That has to be incredibly difficult -- it's one thing having a spouse married to their job, but it's a different thing entirely when that job is the army.  Clearly here no one is actually an army wife (they're actors), but even that seems like it could be difficult.  Watch as their season ends tonight.

We may have mentioned this when season seven of "Army Wives" began, but it bears repeating prior to tonight's finale, "Army Wives" is only doing 13 episodes this season.  Yes, it has certainly done more episodes in the past (last year it did 20), but there have been other seasons when it's only done 13 (like season five).  Do not think of this season as being shorter than some, instead think of it as they're having shoved all the good moments into fewer episodes than last year and just jettisoning the extraneous fluff.  We don't know that we'd say that's inherently true, but if it makes you feel better about this being one of the shorter seasons of the series, we do believe you should think about it that way.

"Army Wives" initially premiered on Lifetime in June of 2007, and here we are, in March of 2013 and the show is starting its seventh season.  That, dear friends, is not a bad run for any series, be it on network or cable.  Furthermore, at this point, the show seems like it's going to keep on trucking for a little while longer.  Four new actors are going to join the show this year -- Ashanti, Torry DeVitto, Elle McLemore, and Jesse McCartney.  Tune in tonight and see how (if) the show is different with the new characters and if, possibly, it as another seven seasons left in it.

You might find this just a tad cheeky, but tonight's episode of "Army Wives" is entitled 'Centennial.'  We are assuming that this means that there will be a 100 something celebration going on besides just a big, off-stage, cake.  We have to say though, we are curious what might be hitting 100 today within the story in the show as opposed to the story of the show.  Maybe, and we're just spitballing here, the characters will jump in time and go back to the 100th anniversary of our nation.  Kind of a leap for the show?  Maybe, but that doesn't make it a bad thing.

Like a short deployment, "Army Wives" has been gone for about a month now.  For those of you who count every hour your loved one is gone, it's actually four days longer than a month (5/20 to 6/24).  Yes, we know that isn't hours, but we can't do that sort of math in our head and using a calculator feels like cheating (our math teacher always said so anyway).  New episodes of the Lifetime series starts tonight and, we're told, the series will continue running new episodes straight through the end of the season in August.

The story of these folks (mostly women) who have spouses/families and live on an army base has managed to be quite the successful series over the course of its first five seasons.  Now, we're not suggesting to you that the show will continue for another fives seasons (all things end, even the Iraq War), but season six is starting tonight, so they're going to get through, at the very least, one season in a second set of five seasons.  We can't imagine what the season will bring, but we do assume that there will be army-related strife.  Okay, so we didn't have to dig deep for that guess, but that doesn't make it inaccurate.

While we certainly appreciate "Army Wives" as it is, we can't lie to you, there are moments we wished that it took on a little bit more of a reality show sheen.  How cool would it be if this series went "Basketball Wives" or "Real Housewives" but in a scripted fashion... and with guns.  We would definitely put guns in there as it is, after all, about the wives of members of the army.  Plus, it would allow for more mayhem, and mayhem is never bad if you're doing a scripted version of a reality show.

All good wars (and bad ones too) must eventually come to an end.  That is the exact sort of thing that every army wife knows.  Just ask the wives on "Army Wives" if you have any doubts.  We do highly recommend however that you ask them tonight because after tonight they're going to go away for a while.  This is the fourth season finale of the Lifetime original series, so expect plots to be wrapped up, issues to be addressed, and maybe, just maybe, some hints at what is to come down the line in future seasons.  We're not guaranteeing any of that, it just seems likely.

Lifetime's show about army wives living together on a base has proven to be pretty successful - the third season of the series was in fact its most watched.  Now, the show is back, and what that means for us is that there will be 18 fresh episodes of the drama.  There is always something new and different happening on the base and we fully expect this year to be no different.  Well, hopefully it will be a little different, as rehashing old plots won't be terribly fun, but you know what we meant.
