Is anyone on the team left alive? I'm guessing yes but that's the question after last season's cliffhanger where a gunman began shooting wildly at the team as they sat in a bar remembering a fallen colleague.

Tonight marks the 17th episode of the ninth season of "CSI: NY," and while 17 may not equal 22 (we're not the best at math, but we checked, and it doesn't... we're pretty sure), in this case it still equals the season finale.  What will the finale bring?  Will their be a season 10?  Will someone be leaving and if so are they going to be leaving in a happy way or a sad one?  We simply do not know the answers to those questions, but we wonder if we won't find out some of them by watching what happens tonight on the season finale.  And, if you watch, you will too (provided that there answers given)

Now, we're not the same as everyone else, we get that.  When we think of Bill Smitrovich, we think of him playing Inspector Cramer on "Nero Wolfe."  You might think of him as ADA Walsh from "The Practice" or SAC Olczyk on "Criminal Minds" or the VP on "The Event."  Tonight though you'll get to see him as a DEA Agent on "CSI: NY." Tune in, we're virtually certain you'll have an 'Oh, that guy' experience.  Plus, you may find that you really like what Gary Sinise, Sela Ward, and the rest of the "CSI: NY" cast has to offer.

Rob Morrow has been a star on at least two CBS television shows... well, there are two series which instantly come to mind (we'll let you do the googling on them).  He isn't joining "CSI: NY," but he is going to be on tonight as a guest star.  We do think it would be awesome if Morrow joined the series permanently, but as the episode description refers to him as an 'arsonist' we don't think that'll be happening.  It would be a great, new, direction for the series, but we're not sure that the show is going to go down that path.

We know that it feels as though "CSI: NY" just came back with new episodes a month ago, and that's because it was about a month ago.  But, whether or not they've pumped out 12 new episodes since their last extended break or five new ones with two old ones thrown into the mix as well (as is the case), "CSI: NY" is still airing a winter finale tonight.  Not to fear, the season isn't over, the show will be back come March 30th, but it is going away for a while after tonight which probably means we're looking at a pretty big episode this week.  Tune in and see what Mac has to deal with now.

There is something beautiful about the ratings sweeps period.  Not only do we get new episodes of all our favoirte series, but we get tons of guest stars and some great episodes.  Tonight, "CSI:  NY" is giving us three different guest stars.  Sure, we've seen guest stars before on the show, but the notion of getting three at once is something we're most definitely down with.  Or, perhaps, it's something with which we're mostly definitely down.  We never quite remember the grammar rules for such things but are pretty convinced that Mac or someone else on the show would shoot us if we got it wrong.

Most people out there will think this episode of "CSI: NY" particularly import because Peter Fonda is on this week.  That makes a whole lot of sense what with Peter Fonda being an incredible actor, Golden Globe winner, and Academy Award nominee.  Others will think this episode important because Rex Ryan, head coach of the NY Jets, and Mike Tannenbaum, Jets GM, are on.  Perhaps Mac and Peter Fonda's character (Mac's original partner) will investigate how on Earth the Jets made the AFC Championship two years in a row only to fold both times.  There has to be a crime there somewhere.

Born in 1991, Austin Butler is a relatively young man.  And yet, despite his age, he has found himself with either recurring or starring roles on a large number of television series.  He's been on "Life Unexpected," "Ruby and the Rockits," "Zoey 101," and "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide."  We don't think that his appearance as a guest star on "CSI: NY" is necessarily the beginning of another recurring role for the man, but we wouldn't say that it's wholly outside the realm of possibility either.

On tonight's episode of "CSI: NY," Lindsay Price will be a guest star.  Now, based on Price's recent television history we can assume two different things: first, she'll be able to cast magic spells, she won't know why she has the ability but she'll have the ability and second, she'll be exceedingly well dressed and trying to make her way in the big city.  To be fair, that isn't the description CBS gives her character in any way (their description is far more depressing and deals with her being a victim), but we think we may be right.

"CSI: NY" is now, quite officially, a Friday night television show.  Take that typical, not franchised, Friday night procedurals.  But, lest you think that "CSI: NY" has, unquestionably, been placed on Fridays in order to allow it to die a slow, ignominious death, might we take a moment to remind you that Sela Ward is joining the cast tonight.  That's right, we said Sela Ward!  We kind of have a thing for her so we're quite excited by the prospect of seeing her every Friday evening... it's kind of like a date (we're going to tell all our friends that it's an actual date, but we're letting you know the truth).

What is it that makes an entry into the "CSI" franchise "CSI?"  Where does your average crime drama end and your "CSI" start?  We've considered the question very deeply and think we have come up with a two-fold answer.  First, it has to take place in a big city - that's crucial, otherwise the number of dead bodies becomes a little overwhelming for the city's size.  Second, and this is the most important bit - the show has to revolve around the crime scene investigators instead of your average detective.  Watch this finale of "CSI: NY," see if that's not right.

Ladies and gentleman, start your engines, get them all revved up and running hot because Antonio Sabato Jr. and Danica Patrick are going to be on "CSI: NY" tonight.  The former as a grand prix racing legend, and the latter as the grand prix racing legend's top competitor.  That's right, the episode tonight is all about speed... and murder (because all "CSI: NY" episodes are pretty much about murder).  The synopsis makes it sound like Patrick's character is the lead suspect, but we refuse to believe anything so heinous about her.  We simply refuse.
