TV Network - ABCABC mystery series "Castle" is airing epiosde 100 tonight. One hundred. For "Castle." Here Nathan FIllion is, still so incredibly affiliated with "Firefly," but it is on "Castle" where Fillion will find 100 episodes. It is still for time to say whether Fillion will find immortality on "Castle" or "Firefly" (or both), but we're relatively convinced at this point that he will find immortality. As for Stana Katic, who doesn't love her? She is fantastic as Kate Beckett and if you tune in tonight you'll probably see why.

If there is something we have learned about Richard Castle and Kate Beckett through the five seasons of this series, it's that they're awesome. Through more than 100 episodes and goodness knows how many murders and the occasional kidnapping and semi-regular publishing of Nikki Heat novels, we have watched Castle and Beckett grow and bond. We look forward to the final case of season and keep our fingers crossed that there will be many, many cases to come in the future.

Ah, Richard Castle. Is there anything he can't do? Is there anyone famous he doesn't know? He is just plain fantastic, isn't he? And, don't get us started on his cop partner, Beckett. We love her. We can't figure out why she and Castle just can't get it together, romantically speaking. There is always the chance that one or the other is saving themselves for us, but we don't see that happening. We wish, but we don't see it. Tune in tonight, watch the killing, marvel at the beauty, and laugh at the wit. "Castle" is back with a new season of murderous fun.

"Castle" has done quite a good job through the years blending a longer recurring story with single episode cases. The will they-won't they of the Castle/Beckett relationship combined with Beckett's family murder story has given us plenty of hours of enjoyment. Will tonight's episode be just a regular hour of awesome or an hour of awesome that will somehow tie in to a bigger picture? We'd bet that even if the case is just a one-off, there's going to be more a longer-term bit to tonight's episode.

You might think that "Castle" is going British tonight with Charles Shaughnessy and Brett Tucker guest starring, but they aren't. Shaughnessy may have been born in London, England, most certainly making him British, but Tucker was actually born in Melbourne, Australia, making him not British. One of the guys is probably down with a nice plate of bangers and mash whereas the other guy would request that you throw another shrimp on the barbie. Unquestionably both do have funny accents, but they're the accents of different nations, not just different socioeconomic groupings.

Were we forced to choose, we're not sure whether Sarah Jane Morris or fairy tales would rate more highly on our 'awesomeness' list. Sarah Jane Morris, of course, has played Agent Barrett on "NCIS" and Julia Walker on "Brothers and Sisters." Fairy tales are, quite naturally, tales which don't regularly feature fairies and are most definitely very wonderful. Both will be present on "Castle" tonight, and said combination moves the show from 'Oh, yes, I generally tend to watch this series' to 'Must Watch.' So, tune in, enjoy, and wonder to yourself just why fairy tales seem to have become more prominent as of late. Oh, and, Taylor Kinney is on too.

On a semi-regular basis (a couple of episodes a season... maybe a few episodes, not a couple), "Castle" gives us a pretty good guest star. Tonight, said guest star is Jennifer Beals ("Flashdance"). In point of fact, last week's guest star was Jennifer Beals as well. What's more, she's playing the same character this week as last, a CIA operative who is the basis of one of the characters in the Derrick Storm novels, but not Derrick Storm himself. Josh Stamberg will be returning as well this week, and as far as we know he isn't playing the inspiration for Storm either. Interesting.

Castle and Beckett have had a whole lot of time off. Their last new episode aired the first week in December, and here we are, the second week in January and they're just starting up with more new episodes now. The way we see it, that should mean that Castle, Beckett, and those two guys who help them, are well rested and ready to have some truly weird, truly disturbing, truly "Castle"-y cases. Plus, we're still hoping that the two main characters get together... when is that going to happen? Have the producers worked out a way to do that without ruining the show? We can't wait to see (not that we know that any of that is going to happen tonight).

We like our "Castle." it isn't that the show routinely delivers brilliance in either its characters or its stories, it's much more that Nate Fillion and Stana Katic are somehow able to pull it all off, no matter how foolish it may be. Of course, a weird script and lots of oddities in an episode help as well, and we imagine that's what we're going to get tonight as a ghost hunter is murdered and the suspect may just be something paranormal. Something strange in the neighborhood? Who you gonna call? Castle.

We know that murders occur in New York City on a fairly regular basis, but we have to tell you that there are moments when we watch "Castle" and can't help but wonder how there are possibly people still alive in any of the five boroughs. It's not that we don't love the incredibly amusing ways in which people get dispatched in the series, it's just that we can't help but think that with all the clever killers out there and the singular numbers of Castles and Becketts, the killers are going to eventually get the upper hand.

This week's murder on "Castle" takes place at a beauty pageant which seems like pretty much the perfect place to set Castle loose (one wonders just how many of the contestants he'll know). But, that's not why we're suggesting you watch this particular episode. No, our reasons are the guest stars - Michael McKean and Sasha Roiz. The former will be playing the eccentric millionaire who sponsors the pageant and the latter the TV personality who hosts the event. Please note, we can't promise that there will be a swimsuit competition (but do you want to see Michael McKean in a swimsuit anyway?).

This episode of "Castle" is being described as being special due, in large part, to Castle and Beckett disagreeing about the identity of the murderer. No, seriously. We know, we thought that was pretty much the status quo for the series too, but apparently not. Surely it would be much better to tout the episode by stating that Jason Wiles will be this week's guest star, wouldn't it? You may remember Wiles from his recent appearance on "No Ordinary Family," but we prefer to remember him as starring on "Persons Unknown" last summer.

There is something magic about "Castle." The show has that special spark, that special flourish, that special sparkle. We therefore believe it to be absolutely perfect that tonight's episode focuses on magic. Gilles Marini is actually going to be playing a master magician this week, and we do have to say that his smoldering eyes are kind of magic in and of themselves. We're still pretty sure that Beckett isn't going to be down with the magic stuff no matter how much Marini smolders, but it is the best shot Castle has of having Beckett share the amusement he most assuredly will feel around the presence of magic.

Like it or not, he really is ruggedly handsome. Rick Castle has spent another season entertaining us with his shenanigans and his pining after Kate Beckett. That's not to say that we haven't been entertained by her pining over him, we have, but the series is called "Castle," not "Beckett" (with one 't' that's the name of a summer camp). Following this week's episode we'll all be pining though because this is the season finale. The series will be back come the fall, but this is the season two swan song. Prepare for unanswered questions.

Joe Torre - we have always felt bad about just how he left the Yankees (and the fact that he didn't bring in any World Series rings during the last several seasons of his tenure there). It's nice to see that Torre will be stepping back into (a fictional) New York this week for "Castle," where he'll be playing Joe Torre. Ray Wise, who will also be on the show, won't be playing Ray Wise. Nor, sadly, will Wise be playing the Devil. He'll be a guy named Bobby Fox, which we know nothing about other than that he's a man who looks an awful lot like Ray Wise.

Though to some she will always be Sam Macelli, to Richard Castle, she's "the one who got away." Castle may have loved her, but tonight he finds himself invited to her wedding to another man. He's not exactly a guest at the wedding though. No, instead, he and Kate Beckett are called into investigate the murder of a bridesmaid. Will Castle take the opportunity to swoop in and reignite the romance? We have to assume that he'll, at the very least, may a few suggestive comments. If he didn't, he wouldn't be Richard Castle, would he?

In "A Death in the Family," Castle and Beckett investigate the murder of a missing plastic surgeon who is found dead in the front seat of his car after a week of being parked curbside.
We suspect it'll be a lot like most episodes of "Castle," but this one is the first season finale.
"Castle" is currently on ABC's bubble, but its chances of renewal are considered decent.
