The Celebrity Apprentice

We are getting to the point on "Celebrity Apprentice" where some (one?) of the weaker candidates have been eliminated. Okay, it's also true that we've seen a stronger one or two disappear and have had Trump allow a bad choice or two to stay put in order to heighten the drama, but certainly you know you should be expecting that sort of thing, right? Tonight was going to mark the last of the two hour episodes of "Celebrity Apprentice," but it isn't anymore. This was going to be a night of mourning and upset, but instead it's a night of rejoicing... unless another good candidate goes home.

We regularly disagree with the individuals Donald Trump chooses to eliminate on "The Celebrity Apprentice" and its non-celebrity edition as well. Even so, we think Trump got it nearly right much of the time this season, and didn't (too much) allow people to slide by for better drama (and ratings?) down the line. Let us not worry about how we got to this point though, let us simply accept that we are now down to two people and watch as they duke it out to win Mr. Trump's approval.

We have long wondered whether the celebrities on "The Celebrity Apprentice" were in fact stars, but this year promises to bring us an 'all-star' version of the show which should indeed mean that the celebs are, entirely, stars. What we know is this, the season will include some past winners but not every past winner. It will include many a past loser, including some folks whom we wish had won. Also, there will be a Baldwin present. Finally, no jokes about whether or not Trump requires the candidates to show their long form birth certificate and college admission application, we care not for politics here, we only care for good television.

As much as we love "The Celebrity Apprentice," and we do love "The Celebrity Apprentice," we don't feel like the hiring of an individual works at the end of the season. We're still good with firings throughout the season, but surely he could figure out some way to do it differently when declaring the winner. After all, it's not the celebrity in any way goes to work for Trump, so 'hiring' really isn't the right term, is it?

Oh boy, this is it, people. Tonight, we're getting not a two hour edition of "The Celebrity Apprentice," but an extra-super-sized three hour one! Imagine all the Trump insanity we're going to be able to see tonight. We fully expect that this is going to be the best, the biggest, the brightest, the most gold-leafed edition we've seen this season. We also expect that eventually Trump will tell us what's up with his hair. We're not always right with our expectations, but we're pretty certain that there are going to be some wonderful fireworks tonight. Things have been percolating for a while now and it may be time for an explosion.

We are so happy that Donald Trump isn't running for President of the United States of America. No, that's not because we have issues with his politics or attitude or anything else, it's simply because if he was running for President he couldn't be hosting a new season of "Celebrity Apprentice." Okay, yes, Jesse Ventura was able to commentate for XFL games while being Governor of Minnesota, but that was just Minnesota (no offense, we love you guys) and the XFL, not the United States and "Celebrity Apprentice." We just don't think Trump would have the time to do the "Apprentice" if he was President (or running to be).

This season of "The Celebrity Apprentice" has had some pretty big moments. Meat Loaf went crazy for a while, NeNe Leakes and Star Jones fought like cats and dogs, Donald Trump claimed that President Obama needed to produce a birth certificate, there has just been a whole lot going on. How, exactly, will it end tonight and who will be declared 'The Celebrity Apprentice?' Well, it'll end with a final task demanding that the contestants raise money and the winner will be the person Donald Trump opts to not fire.

People, as Star Jones points out in the promo, "The Celebrity Apprentice" is not "The Real Housewives." That being said, "Celebrity Apprentice" is something of a conniving, backstabbing, go-for-the-jugular affair which may make it darn similar. We're not entirely sure how the two woman are going to work together or if the team will simply collapse and allow the men to win the task so that NeNe and Star can go toe-to-toe in the boardroom. Whatever happens though, it's going to be fun.

Out of all the celebrity-based reality shows, "The Celebrity Apprentice" may be our favorite. We're not sure if it's the caliber of celebrities that they're able to get or Donald Trump getting to fire them or Donald Trump's kids helping dear old dad fire the celebrities, but whatever it is we love it.This year's celebrities seem like they could be one of the best groups yet. And, if anyone asks, we're with Busey. Either Busey or Meat Loaf. Either Busey, Meat Loaf, or La Toya. Either Busey, Meat Loaf, La Toya... or just anyone else on the show. It's going to be a great season.

At the end of tonight's two hours, one contestant will be crowned The Celebrity Apprentice, or, perhaps, The Third Celebrity Apprentice. Whatever title you want to give them, that does seem like a nice feather in their cap. Plus, let's not forget, it's all for charity, and even if we, personally, believe that charity starts in the home, these folks have taken it outside their own abode and done some good for the world at large. So, good for them, and good for you for watching - your watching is almost the same as doing the charity work yourself (at least that's what we tell ourselves).

Over the course of the many seasons of the "The Apprentice" and "The Celebrity Apprentice" we have often wondered whether the project managers are really relevant. When they're right there with their teams they are often ignored, so what's going to happen this week when the PMs are sent off on their own, away from their teams? Will their respective teams follow their lead or will they go off and do whatever they want? And, will teams win or lose based upon their following the PM or ignoring them? These questions and more will be answered tonight.

As you may recall, the last season of "The Celebrity Apprentice" ended with the forces of light, represented by Joan Rivers, smiting those of darkness, represented by Annie Duke. Many saw the ending as controversial as the good side seemed to perform far less well in the final task. This new season, with an all-new group of celebrity contestants, promises to have its own set of controversial stories to go along with it. One has to wonder though if the Dark Side will manage to wrest a victory from the good and just this time out.

Joan Rivers and Annie Duke face off to see who will win Donald Trump's trust, affection and admiration on the finale of NBC's "The Celebrity Apprentice."
For reasons known best to Trump, Mark Burnett and NBC, the finale is a whopping three hours.
Last year's winner, Piers Morgan, and last year's runner-up (some other guy) will make appearances in the finale.
In this final challenge, project managers Joan and Annie will compete to create a pre-theatre VIP party experience, sponsored by Kodak, for patrons attending Cirque du Soleil's hit show "Wintuk."
