When a long-running television series there is always a question about what sort of progression the characters have made over the course of the run -- have they learned anything, have they changed, have they grown? Beyond that, there's also always the question about whether we've changed because we've watched them experience so very many things. That is simply not a question we can answer for you, but as you sit down tonight to watch the series finale ask yourself this -- am I more or less attracted to firemen now? That'll probably be enough of an answer.

If it feels like we've been hearing about the final season of "Rescue Me" coming for years, it's because we have. That final season though is going to be starting tonight. That means that there are but a few chances left to see the insanity that Tommy Gavin and his firehouse mates bring to the world of the FDNY. We highly recommend tuning in because it is sure to be off-the-wall insane at times, plus, you know, Denis Leary is pretty great on the show.

It has been something of a crazy season on "Rescue Me." But, then again, saying that is kind of like saying 'gee, the New York Yankees look kinda good this year. They may just have an outside shot at the playoffs.' It's not that the Yankees make the playoffs every year, it's just that there always seems to be the opportunity for them to make them. The same is true of "Rescue Me," not every episode has crazy, but the potential for crazy is always right there under the surface, just aching to break through. We have to figure that it will tonight as this is the season finale.

When we last left the folks over on "Rescue Me," Denis Leary was cursing up a storm. We don't actually remember exactly where the season ended, but figure that it's a safe bet that Leary was cursing. Seriously, what would a Denis Leary show be without Denis Leary cursing at least 50 percent of the time? It wouldn't be Leary, would it? That's probably why "Two if by Sea" didn't work - Leary simply didn't thing may have made more money than "Avatar."
