Better Off Ted

I think it's time we all faced it, we'd all be better off Ted. Ted is the man. Not only do his nerdy scientist underlings want to be like him, not only can he single-handedly raise his daugther, but he's just so darn great in every which way you can imagine. Yes, he has problems occasionally, but there's nothing ever happening that he can't fix. Except maybe his love life, he's made some questionable choices there and we imagine that as this season progresses he'll cotninue to have issues in this particular area. Maybe Veridian Dynamics will come up with a drug that can fix that. And, Taye Diggs guest stars tonight.

Do we suggest too often that you watch "Better Off Ted?" If we do, it's only because, despite the low ratings, the show has had on some pretty solid guests this season and has remained consistently funny. Tonight, Eddie McClintock of Syfy's "Warehouse 13" guest stars as Ted's fast talking brother, Billy. We don't expect sci-fi shenanigans to come into play with Billy's fast talking, nor the need for Billy to douse something at Veridian Dynamics in purple goo, but McClintock is funny even without those added bits. So, tonight, you're looking at a funny show with a funny guest star. What more could you want?

We cannot quite explain why there are going to be two new episodes of "Better off Ted" on New Year's Day (as well as an episode of "Scrubs"), however, we can say with some certainty that Creed Bratton will be guest-starring in this particular episode. You may know Creed Bratton as Creed Bratton on NBC's "The Office," but here Creed Bratton will be playing Mr. Krebs, not Creed Bratton. We'll still be calling him Creed Bratton though, because that's Creed Bratton's name, Creed Bratton. Chip Chinery and Lydia Blanco also guest star tonight.

Khandi Alexander guest stars tonight on "Better off Ted" as Lem's mom - a scientist whom the absurdly nerdy and intelligent Lem is intimidated by due to her own scientific acumen. Seriously, Lem, who can turn into reality just about anything you can imagine, is intimidated by this woman. If that's not someone we have to meet - and be a little scared of - who don't know who is. Also, Lem's mom starts an affair with Dr. Bhamba tonight. That's probably better than her starting one with Phil though, right?

Bear with us, because this is a bit unusual. Yes, "Better Off Ted" already had what seemed to be its series finale, back in April. Then ABC decided to renew the low-rated, critically adored workplace comedy for a second season. At that point, ABC realized that it still had some unaired episodes of "Better Off Ted" sitting on the shelf. So starting on Tuesday (June 23), you get a very strange summer burnoff of a show that's already been renewed. It's also a show that's really really funny, so tune in to "You Are the Boss of Me," to see what happens when Ted (Jay Harrington) and Veronica (Portia de Rossi) try spending more time with their underlings. Three Words: Medieval Fight Club.

Is "Better Off Ted" the best TV comedy you aren't watching? Why yes it is!
ABC's workplace satire features stellar work from Portia de Rossi, Jonathan Slavin, Malcolm Barrett and Andrea Anders, but it's ratings, alas, have not matched its critical respect.
This is the show's first season finale and since it's not overwhelmingly likely to be renewed, this could be your last chance to watch.
